The Purples are a very good team, great offensively, but, only good defensively, but, I think there fans are shortchanging how good Pulaski Co is. No, they've not played the schedule that BGreen has played, but, they've not played a bunch of sisters of the poor either. I doubt that BG has a player in the calibre of Mad Southerns RB, so, they've seen D1 players. BG will have the best combination of running and passing that they've seen and for them to have a chance, they'll have to slow down one or the other, not necc shut down, but, at least slow them down enough to get a few stops in the game. They'll also need to win the turnover battle and avoid penalties. BG will be the heavy favorite and rightfully so, but, Pulaski didn't get to 14-0 by not being a very solid, all around team. The Maroons will need to have a few breaks go there way, but, if all is fairly equal in turnovers and penalties, I think BG wins this one by a couple of TDs. I do think Pulaski puts up 3 or 4 scores on the Purples and I don't see it being a blowout, at all.

 

Maybe, but they lead 5A in the State in fewest points allowed per game. I would think they are better than "good."

 

That coupled with their #1 ranked 5A offense.

I get what you're sayin Cardinal Fan and anything can happen. BUT the closest games Pulaski has had have been against Mad South (3 pts each on 2 games) and Anderson Co. With Mad South, they have a very good RB, no doubt. But to put together a defensive plan for them, shouldn't it be load the box and dare to pass. Can't do that with BG. Also can't go the other way because it's been displayed Tisdale, Pillow and Hayes can all run the ball. So the plan is to keep it out of their hands. BG's defense may not be great as you say, but they'll be ready and unlike against JH they won't let off the gas this time.

 

That's why I also stated BG will be the most diverse team they've played and I don't think they're going to stop the Purple offense, but, they do need to choose one or the other to try and at least contain to a certain degree and win the turnover battle. I'm betting they'll try and stop the passing game and take there chances with there front 3 or 4 against the run. If nothing else, that'll likely mean longer, more sustained drives will be needed instead of giving up quick strike passes, meaning they'll be able to stay in the game longer.

 

Now, no disrespect meant here, because I've been singing BGs praises all year, but, it seems everytime another team does something good against the Purples, it's always what the Purples didn't do vs what the other team did do. "We let off the gas after the big lead" or "we took our foot off the pedal" as an example. I'm sorry, but, that's Oscar Mayer Bologna. No way, no how in a semifinal state game, do you take your foot off the pedal against a very good team. Why not just give credit to where credit is due? JHardin made adjustments after the slow start, got things going after a terrible start and outplayed them the whole 2nd half. It's okay to sing another teams praises when justified and to even admit that your teams not perfect or untouchable.

It is not rocket science. Yes, anything can happen (especially with crazy weather) but not many Purple fans are going to deny that this is possibly the best Purples team there has been. The teams they have beaten (including the previous 2 summers) has been unreal. One of the teams they beat was rated number 1 in Georgia pretty much throughout the entire year. No disrespect, but I am still sticking to third quarter running clock. Again, weather may play havoc but for any team that plays this years Senior Purple class IN THEIR LAST GAME probably is not going to fare to well.

I didn't intend to slap JH in the face with my comment. In fact, I continually commended them during their comeback during the game thread and commended Hoss403. I say it again John Hardin played a heck of a second half and could have/(JH perspective) should have won the game. However, from a BG fans perspective BG was up 27 to 0 JH barely had a first down early in the 2Q. If you were at the game it felt like it was over. My opinion is if BG could have kept their focus they easily could have blown the game open as they have others this year. At the end of the day, the BG D stepped up when thet needed to in order to get the win. That's all that matters

Look at the other side of the bracket that same year (2009) and you will see that Pulaski also lost in the semi-final that same day, to a Highlands team that finished 3rd in the country in the USA Today final poll.

 

I do agree that BG wins big.

Should be a cake walk for Bowling Green! SK beat Pulaski County 50 to 7 last year. I can't see them being that much better than last year.
