NCC quarterback Mac Franzen and stud LB Jack Sutkamp both live in the Fort and both came up playing in the Ft Thomas Jr Football League. It is my understanding that Franzen was teetering on being a Bird probably more than Sutkamp.

 

Just for Gits and Shiggles how freaking good would these two studs have made the Birds offense and defense?

 

I think Franzen would clearly be a highly recruited WR if he was a Bird and Sutkamp alongside Wobleski would have made the Birds LB corp clearly the Nastiest in the state.

 

Franzen has stepped into the role of QB and done quite well. Sutkamp has only put up sick tackling numbers all year. Breds fans should be very thankful at these two young men are with their program. Either way they both likely would be playing for rings next weekend.

It's funny how NCC seems to still find a way to stay competitive with half the numbers of the Birds. The better question is, when are these two teams going to start playing again?

No. Several kids from the fort and the county. I'm not sure how many kids actually live in Newport that go there.

If Sutkamp and Franzen were birds, I'd hate to say it but Sutkamp would be starting and Franzen would be Houliston's backup probably. I think both made the right decision going to NCC

Both great student athletes from great families that made the right decisions imo.

 

I agree they would be awesome additions to Highlands but this is really unfair to both kids to link them to something they could care less about...JMO

Could be right. I think Franzen is very happy with his decison. HHe is playing a much bigger role in the state championship games with NCC than he would have with Highlands. This is a tough topic because in some eyes it could take away from Franzen's accomplishments with NCC. I'm happy for whhat he's accomplished and he and his family I'm sure are very proud of what he's done.

In highlands platooning of WR's every play, not sure Franzen would be getting the looks you talk abouut. Plus the fact we all know it's not really the games on Friday Nights that get them recruited, but attending camps etc. Franzen could be getting the looks you talk about if he attended the camps aas a WR and not QB. That would have nothing to do with the school.

 

What I'm trying to say is if Franzen is that good of a WR hhe should of been going to camps as WR because that iswhere they first get noticed. HHe may not have film being a WR which would hurt but I think yyou know what I mean. You first have to get noticed by recruiters and tthat is through camps. Coaches just don't show up outt of the blue to watch games.

Birds have several stud receivers that is for sure but there is no question in my mind that Franzen would be the big TARGET getting most of the looks and he would not come off the field much. Feggins on one side and Franzen on the other? Hergott across the middle, Greene stretching the field? Good LAWWWWD !!!

Is it just me or has this year been one of those rare years where there have been so many stud WR's in this area? I may sound a bit biased but seriously look around NKY at the WR's. We know of highlands WR's you have talked about, you also have Bellevues WR's, Conner had Way and there is no mystery to what helped the 1st year QB at Cooper break all the passing records at the school in his onnly year playing QB there with Fussinger and Morgan. This area's WR's I'd put up against any area in teh state.
