Duke 91 Vermont 90

Featured Replies

Two teams I really like gave the fans a treat in this one.

Vermont falls to 1-5, while the great Duke improves to 5-1.

My goodness. The Duke defense has so much work to do.

This Duke defense is....putrid. Simply putrid.

We played that bad against a team that bad. At hime nonetheless, whats going to happen when we go on the road in the ACC against good teams. Hopefully this team figures it out.

Meh. A lot of big teams have struggled with cupcakes this year. Maybe not this close, but it's nothing to be too alarmed about IMO.

Having said that, Duke's D hasn't been much. And they don't have much going for them in the paint.

Wow was shocked by this one. Several college teams in the top 25 have work to do. Saw where Michigan got beat again today.

It's still football season, college basketball like Nascar, doesn't matter till the end. Who's on a run.

Listen up! The new whistle is making it tougher to guard people and that was the intent. Almost every thread, on every game someone says "their defense has to improve.". Well guess what? It's not going to improve, the game is opening up and I for one am glad to see it. No more grabbing and holding.

NCAA wanted more scoring and the defense is suffering in that regard;

Vermont ran a nice offense, but Duke played horrible defense. I can't believe

Vermont didn't get a shot off at the end.

IMO, Vermont was the real winner of the game. Totally bogus call with 5 sec to play. The Vermont kid played great defense...moved his feet, kept from contact and blocked the early part of the shot. Vermont ball...and I like their chances in transition to score for the win. But no, instead we got yet another ref who has sold his soul to the devil...blue ones of course.

Right, love how people say there wasn't any contact on the play. People who hate Duke that is.

I didn't get to see the game. Any link to the play in question?

Not sure. I'll look. It was a textbook play that is taught in middle school. Drive to the backet to the contact. You'll get that foul called 90% of the time. There was contact, it wasn't a clean block and the defender wasn't standing still with his arms straight up. Last I saw you can't take contact from an offensive player while jumping and not get called for the foul when there is contact.

This isn't a good view but you can tell there is contact to the body on the play. It's around 3:35 in the video.
