Taking nothing away from Frankfort...they won the game. It was hard fought with momentum swings happening all the way through....an awesome venue to play in with a "BIG" home field advantage....However, I must say...and this is JUST MY OPINION....It seemed pretty one sided with the penalties. Beechwood is generally a disiplined team. I cannot recall seeing 10 plus personal fouls and or facemask calls aginst one team....especially a Beechwood team. This was an emotionally charged game addmitedly, I was there (and not drinking..as was pointed out)...If a game is being constested at this level of emotion...then how can it be called so one sided aginst the visitors? You can say that Beechwood deserved it....and some of the calls should have been made....but, it goes both ways...both teams were fired up and charged...only the visitors got crushed with penalties....especially at critical times. In the second half of a one score game, each time Beechwood started to put a drive together on offense....it was stopped by penality. When Frankfort needed a score...it seemed that every third down faced --the Beechwood defense was penalized to keep the drive alive....it all just seemed way to "ONE SIDED" for only 1 team to get all the penalitys. Every yard on both sides was contested. #44 was a beast and should be commended. Beechwood lost the game...they didnt do what was needed to win the game. It just would have been nice to see these critical calls go both ways...both teams were emotional..pushing and shoving and a bit mouthy....I heard Coach Rash ask the offical for a # on the double personal foul 30 yarder....and was told "dont have a # for you coach" by the offical... I agree that the officials for these games shoud be groups that work together in the past...way to many "meetings" to figure out the "calls" being made.

Bottom line is that the game was back and forth, and when Frankfort needed a "call" they got it...Beechwood didnt. Not sour grapes by any means....But when you need to make a stop...or need a first down...and you get a penalty on EVERY critical play...it will take its tole on a team mentally... and it did. Beechwood's short comings came into play tonight as they have done all year...However, Frankfort did not play a perfect game...the flags DID NOT decide the game...but it would have been better to see them thrown both ways...or kept in the pockets.

Congrats to Frankfort, good luck aginst Mayfield.

Any time Frankfort plays, officials are going to be criticized. I have heard of too many games where games have actually been handed to Frankfort and/or called in their favor. I was not in attendance for the Beechwood game, but it doesn't surprise me that someone was to call out the officials. I believe it was about 6 or 7 years ago, a friend of mine showed me a game film from where Carroll County played Frankfort. There was something like 25 holding calls (not exaggerating) in the 4th quarter that prevented Carroll County from beating Frankfort. I know that seems like many years ago and irrelevant, but this would not be the first time Frankfort has had officials on their side. Nonetheless, Congrats to Frankfort and best of luck against Mayfield!

Sometimes it's only getting called one way cause that particular team is continuously committing that foul, and every crew I have worked with the white hat says "if your not sure 100% sure about the foul the you better not throw the flag" and when you do you better have a #. The Number wasn't giving to BW coach and my guess would have been is that the foul was committed on the opposite side of the field and the ref he asked didn't throw it so he doesn't have a Number yet and it was so much going on didn't worry about getting one. Most to all face mask calls were obvious, BW were trying to tackle 44 high all night and they could have been why they got called so often. Again this is just my 2 cents on the situation.

Agreed...some of the calls were obvious...but lets face it...A "call" can be made on every play if your looking hard enough. My point is that Frankfort committed just as many...that were not called. Frankfort is not the most disiplined team around...Ive seen them on film and in person...last week vs. Bellevue is an example.

I would rather they call it the same for both sides...instead of they way it went down. Did Beechwood lose its composure at times....YES...but so did the other team...and they were not. Leave the flags in your pockets if your not going to call it evenly..is all I am saying. #44 was a load and Beechwood had problems stopping him....which was a problem all year..stopping big backs. Frankforts offense was stopped from time to time...only to be "bailed out" by a flag...on every 3rd down play it seemed.....One drive late was aided by 3 flags on 3rd down...then finally a 30 yard run by #44 and they are inside the 10 ready to score. You can hammer #44 at the defense all night they way Frankfort did...as anyone would have...but when you keep kicking the defense in the "gut" with 3rd down stops...and throwing flags...its demoralizing to say the least....To any team.

Good luck to Frankfort. I hope they can do the same to Mayfield.

Quit blaming Ref's . They all came from the same association on the other side of the state and could of cared less about who won the game. By the time you get to third round of playoffs you generally have some of the most qualified officials working.

Sounds like more sour grapes. And the Carrol County reference is funny... That was always one of the worst places to play when I was playing, for several reasons.

That's fine... When teams who aren't expected to win do, officiating is typically one of the go-to excuses. I'm sure we could find calls/no-calls for and against both teams from last Friday. The fact remains, Frankfort ran it down Beechwood's throat, and the officials weren't why that happened.

Watched the game last night on local replay. BW was called for 5 face mask penalties of the 5 penalties 4 of them could be seen clearly on the replay. Now on the back to back unsportsmanlike penalties first one you see clearly on the TV. The second the tv crew couldnot figure out what happened.

On the replay the FG was good by Frankfort. In the 3rd quarter on far end BW fumbled and was called incomplete by officials that was on their on 20 after FHS just scored. So officials are not perfect I am not a fan of officials calling games from outside there areas.

 

As for the game maybe the Tigers played the worse game of their season. Y

I wish I had a dollar every time I heard "the refs were on Mayfield's side and it cost us the game". Sometimes you draw a good crew and sometimes you don't.

First of all, walking through the Beechwood faithful before the game, you could smell the liquor... So any of that group, you can take their word with a grain of salt...

 

As CoachBuckett said, on the particular instance when there were two unsportsmanlike penalties called on the same play, they were more than deserved.... #20 on Beechwood was running his mouth the entire game. The first one was from him pushing and shoving on Frankfort's sideline after the play, the second was once both teams were back in the huddle, and he kept running his mouth to the official over the ball.

 

Beechwood was called for several face mask penalties, and all but one were very obvious. I can think of another PI call on Beechwood, again, the DB got to the receiver way before the ball did. This sounds like a classic case of sour grapes. We know Beechwood isn't used to losing, but it happens.

 

Bottom line, Frankfort was the better team. They gave the Tigers a dose of their own medicine, and ran it down Beechwood's throat. The officials had nothing to do with that.

 

I'm pretty sure the Beechwood fans weren't the only fans smelling of liquor.:laugh:

I wasn't there so I don't know what all happened but usually when a team loses, their fans start blaming the refs. Happens just about every time...

 

Actually I have seen this with winning teams as well.
