frankdracman23 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 One starter redshirting, another starter violated team rules and DNP, another starter hurt and DNP, another starter not able to go many minutes due to heart condition.........might be a real long year for NKU.
16thBBall Fan Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Which of those reasons listed does Chad Jackson fall under?
blueandgold73 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Which of those reasons listed does Chad Jackson fall under? Redshirted. Yes they could be in for a long year, but from what I understand Coach Bezold knew it would be all along. It's all about the preparation for next year, which is why Chad Jackson redshirted. He wants his freshman to be thrown into the fire and get experience this year; and with Jalen Billups' heart condition, he didn't really expect him to play that much this year regardless.
Wireman Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 They'll compete but likely will be a long season. That's fine, they can't compete for anything until next season anyways.

blueandgold73 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Aren't eligible for the NCAA tournament until 2017....What are the eligible for next season? There are some talks about NKU potentially being eligible for the NCAA tournament next year. We'll see if it happens though.
Wireman Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Aren't eligible for the NCAA tournament until 2017....What are the eligible for next season? Atlantic Sun tournament and there is hope of NCAA from what I've heard
UKMustangFan Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 There are some talks about NKU potentially being eligible for the NCAA tournament next year. We'll see if it happens though. Not sure how, as the NCAA has a required 5 year probation period for all schools making the jump.
LIPTON BASH Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Not sure how, as the NCAA has a required 5 year probation period for all schools making the jump. Which is another reason I thought the move to D1 was a bad idea.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Which is another reason I thought the move to D1 was a bad idea. Is and was a horrible idea.
UKMustangFan Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Is and was a horrible idea. Why? I can't see any negatives to it.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Why? I can't see any negatives to it. * Not enough corporate support. * Not enough of a fan base / season ticket holder base. * Way too much regional competition in College Basketball. * Can't generate enough money to cover increases in travel, scholarships, olympic sports and their scholarships, etc. * Don't control their own building and have a terribly unfriendly lease / management contract with SMG. * No one knows that situation better than Jane Meier and she was 100% against the move. * They would have been better off financially to have stayed in D-II, continued their run of excellence, have a niche carved out that made them unique in this Major Market, instead of being a me-too D-I institution that is, at best, 6th in terms of College Sports coverage in this market.

What's so bad about it? Whatever NKU wants done at the building they get.
