Don't win this or the regular season game, then things change don't they. So it doesn't matter if the record is 20-23 0ver the past 16 years. I wish it was 23-0. The rivalry is as strong as ever!

 

No, it is not. The desire to pound CovCath again, and again, and again, and again may be as strong as ever, but this is not the same rivalry as the one from '87-'97. After the "Mud Bowl," Highlands went to another level and CovCath improved slightly and then tumbled. Following Highlands loss to Boyle in the state finals, Mueller took the program out of the NKY stratosphere. CovCath has not come close to matching that (neither has anyone else around here or in Highlands' class statewide)

I agree this is just not another game. I know the gag order is in place in Park Hills and I like that. In the Fort you can just see the look on the faces this week of the players...straight buisness. The last time they looked like this was Elder week. Boys are focused!

As for the rivalry...if you don't think this is still a very vibrant rivarly, then I don't think you are an HHS or Cov Cath fan. And I doubt you played for either. I understand from the outside how this could appear to be lopsided for awhile and that that may have caused it to lose a little momentum, but if you don't think that's the first game our guys look at on the schedule, you are crazy! Some can call it "just another game" to get under some of the CC fan's skin, but trust me, both teams are always going to look forward to this game...especially when it's to advance in the playoffs.

 

I do expect HHS to win by a couple TD's, but I also know that ANYTHING can happen when these two meet. Cov Cath week is crazy at HHS (as I'm sure it is in Park Hills) and as one other poster mentioned, the boys are focused!!!

For CCH, if they win this weekend, but lose next weekend, people are dancing in the streets. If CCH beats Highlands in regular season, but doesn't qualify for playoffs, it's a successful year.

I just answered your question on what the difference is. Whether it would have an effect on the outcome, guess we'll never know.

 

I don't know about your assessment of the Cov Cath crew. It's not like they haven't been successful in the past and their only goal is to beat HHS. I would find it hard to believe that any Cov Cath player or fan would not make winning state their ultimate goal. If HHS was not in thier division, we could be talking about Cov Cath's dynasty. I hate to say it and no disrespect to other teams around the state, but they have typically been one of the only fairly consistent potential roadblock for years.

 

Again, I can tell you didn't play for either team. Say what you'd like from the outside, but it's still a bitter rivalry. If you doubt that al all, ask the HHS kids and coaches if they still think it's a rivalry. I know what the answer would be.

The past two weeks, there have been about 6 opposing fans (kidding) at the games. Just drive by Friday night and tell me it's not a rivalry. If you get there late, don't bother trying to come in because it most likely will be a sell out. The only sell outs HHS has is against the school you say is not a rival.

I know it sounds good and it does draw a good crowd, but I can't tell you the last time Highlands vs. Cov. Cath sold out.

By your description no team is 'healthy' at this point in the season. Please show me a team at full strength after 12 games. No excuses needed. Your team won an impressive 10 games with the players available to them. Your opponent won 11 games with the players available to them. Both have had injuries, both have injuries. May both stay healthy this week.

Lol! Wow! Colerain/Moeller is a whole different animal my friend. You are talking Ohio football vs KY football draw. Population base alone. Oh and they are talking about it because its on a different night. Whew! Exhausting!
