I've seen an unmarked Scion xB pulling folks over on the Watterson a couple of times.

 

Also...from the sound of the article, this guy is the only one driving a Mustang. I sat at a stop light on Bardstown Road on Saturday next to a female police officer driving an unmarked Mustang. ???

 

Yeah, there are definitely more than one driving a Mustang. I've seen a female officer at the end of the Gene Snyder/Greenbelt area sitting in a Mustang.

As long as the majority of those speeding tickets are for 10+ over, then I don't have a problem with the excessiveness.

 

If there were a bunch in there for 5-8 over...that would ruffle my feathers a little. And I'm sure I'll take a lil heat for that.

Did he violate someone's rights? Make something up? Or did he do what he's getting paid to do? On a highway in Louisville I'd say he could write 100 a day if he wanted.

My concern when I hear stories like this (and it may be the cynic in me) is that it's more about revenue than protecting the public or saving lives. Sure hope I'm wrong.

I'm a firm believer that it's not always the speed that causes the majority of accidents...but, the difference in speeds (compared to the surrounding vehicles). I think you could have 100 vehicles out on the road within fairly close proximity of each other, and if they're all driving the same speed, you can go for miles without the possibility of an accident. However, put in just 1 or 2 people who think it's their God-given right to drive 10-15 mph faster than everyone else (regardless of what they're doing), and that will cause all sorts of havoc.

You may be right and I certainly hope you are. Like I said, the cynic in me with these kind of stories just makes me think that way. I have a tremendous amount of respect for police officers, but I do at times have concerns and that many tickets did set off an alarm. :lol2:

San Antonio as well. Don't know if it's cars from seizures (San Antonio is supposedly a huge trafficking hub from the border) or what, but the police forces here have a number of vehicles.

 

Some aren't "unmarked" per se, but I have seen an all black car with chrome black lettering identifying them as a police vehicle on the side. Don't really know how I feel about that considering it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone, especially a young lady, to not see the lettering and be hesitant about stopping until they were in a safe, public place (which you are legally allowed to do), but could be risky for an "evading" charge, especially if they don't have a cell phone and/or are in a rural area where they can't immediately contact dispatch to verify the stop.

So...why are there never any police in the area of the bridgework on I64? People speed well over 60 through there, cutting back in just before they have to exit to I65N. Speed limit is 45, ad with the new lane shifts, that's plenty fast enough.
