1A plays the early Friday game and have ever since it moved to BG. That certainly has not been the case nor was it in last years Sat morning 2A game that was early

It was a pretty nice day at last years finals. Didn't seem to help though. This years Caldwell team has many weapons on offense. Running game very good lately, as Mayfield can witness to.

You would probably agree LB, but I think NCC would be best off if Caldwell County loses to either Desales or CAL. I get the feeling Sindelar would have a career day against a very weak NCC secondary.

 

Trust me, I'm not the only NewCath fan that has said the same thing.

 

That being said, I'm sure they will work on this in the up coming weeks. But, and a big BUT, they have their work cut out for them.

 

If they can play like they did after spoting Beechwood 21 who knows, however, Fieger is no Sindelar but you never know.

After this week's game, NewCath will have all their players back healthy. They need to take one game at a time, and they will be fine. This year's Seniors know what it's like to be part of a team that takes games for granted (like the playoff loss to Holy Cross in 2011), and trust me they won't let that happen again. Those seniors are a special bunch of young men and great leaders for NewCath's team.

A healthy Stephen Brooks getting back to action in two weeks will definitely help. This group needs to come out in with a "fire in their eyes" in every game from here on out.

 

I agree......this is a very special group of young men, one of the closest groups ever. They need to realize from here on out, it's one and done. Also, this could be the last time EVER they put the pads on, so play ever down likes it's your last.

NCC has a definite advantage over the best three teams in the state. In order to get to the state finals THIS YEAR, they will not have to beat any of those three. Caldwell would have the next best avenue to the state finals, only having to win over either DeSales or CAL to get there. CAL would have to beat DeSales and Caldwell to get to a title game. DeSales has the toughest road to hoe I believe. It would take wins over Glasgow, CAL, and Caldwell to get there. All of that depending on the favorites to win out.

I would think that colder weather would favor a team who runs the ball more and/or is the more defensively oriented team.

Caldwell County can run the ball rather well. They have JR Jalen Boyd, who has ran for 955 yards in 9 games, SOPH JaMichael Ellis, with 433 yards in 9 games, and Elijah Sindelar with 393 yards. All are threats for 150+ yard games.

In LB's defense; all it takes for some teams is momentum, such momentum can carry them even through teams such as CC. Momentum = confidence; confidence = Wins.

CC has one of the state's top 10 offenses, that is hard to replicate. This streak is more about creating an identity as a team and riding it through a playoff run.
