I would have a hard time taking Somerset 3 spots behind Glasgow after the beating the Jumpers administered to the Scotties. The top 4 look good.

 

I was placing in order according to the road they would have to travel in the playoffs, not how I would rank them in a poll. I believe that Caldwell County and NCC have the easiest roads to BG. Glasgow has an easier road to BG than Somerset due to Somerset being a 3 seed in their district and having to play EVERY game on the road, while Glasgow would have at least 3 home games, if they keep winning.

 

Now to address my "western KY bias". I know west KY football, at least 2A, very well. The top contenders most of the year have come from the west side of the bracket, thus making it the MUCH harder bracket to win. If I were to rate the 4 regions in 2A, from hardest to win to easiest, I would rank them as:

 

Hardest-Region 2- CAL, Glasgow, DeSales, and Bardstown

2nd Hardest-Region 1-Caldwell County, OCath, and Murray

3rd-Region 4-Middleboro, Somerset, and Danville

Yes the west is tougher this year...but it hasn't been in the past. Top few teams are tough, but not sure that Glasgow, O Cath, Bardstown, Murray are any better than the east though.

I believe the 1 plays the 3 from their district if the 3 from their district beats the other district's 2. Bardstown is the 3, right? If they win, then they should be playing CAL, who is the 1.

A#1 vs. B#4 --- VS --- B#2 vs. A#3

 

B#1 vs. A#4 --- VS --- A#2 vs. B#3

1) Caldwell County-Home-field advantage until Final, offensive juggernaut.

2) CAL-Home-field advantage until Semi-state game, Good passing game, Great defense

3) NCC-Home-field advantage until Final, just now getting healthy, played a ROUGH schedule, King of the Hill until somebody knocks them off

4) DeSales-May have to go to Glasgow, to CAL, and to Caldwell County, just to PLAY for the State Championship

5) Glasgow-Lots of experience, at least 2 home games

6) Murray-Tough row to hoe

7) OCath-Tougher Row to Hoe

8) Middlesboro

8a)Somerset

8b)Danville

 

That is the best I can come up with.

 

It's going to be interesting on the west side who gets to Bowling Green. Caldwell, CAL, and Desales all have a legitimate shot and are really tough. I honestly might favor CAL right now out of that group with their impressive game against Male. I know Sindelar is tough, but a team that holds a really good Male team to 6 points, that's extremely impressive. Only time will tell if they meet up, and if so, how Caldwell and CAL each game plan for it.

Well it's no secret...the state champ will come from the west.

The secret is that the west winner still will have one more game to play. I can't speak accurately on the west football teams this year until I see them play. And I doubt those from the west have seen many east side teams. With that being said I understand that there is some real good football being played in the west this year....much better than most years. But to make that assumption is foolish. The team that most people are expecting to come out of the east is NCC. They lost 4 games. Three 6A schools and a 5A school. Go ahead and make your state championship game the west semi final and it may just come back to bite you.

Oh okay. The thread said to rank the playoff teams, not rank the road to the championship game, or at least I thought it did, maybe I misread it. Even if I did do you think Glasgow has an easier road going through DeDales, CAL and Caldwell than Somerset would going through Middlesboro, Danville and NCC? I just don't see it.

Glasgow was missing a couple linemen in that game, plus picked up some key injuries early in the 3rd quarter. It was 7 point ballgame until then. They have just now gotten all of those players back and will go into the playoffs 100% healthy for the first time this season. Should be interesting. Hope that you get Lange and Doan back in time for the playoffs. Good Luck.

IMO, two things the Breds need to "iron out" before we talk State Title......Mental mistakes (turnovers/penalties) and pass defense. And I do like the idea of Jack Sutkamp running the ball more, he's good for 5 or 6 yards just about everytime he carries the ball......he's a "load" to take down.

You would probably agree LB, but I think NCC would be best off if Caldwell County loses to either Desales or CAL. I get the feeling Sindelar would have a career day against a very weak NCC secondary.

I thought it was like 65 degrees last year in the finals...didn't help enough though, Lawnboy and his crew took the trophy home!
