Disappointed in the outcome but Bengals are in decent shape in the division. I don't think Dalton lost the game last night and am excited about moving forward with him at QB. Could we do better? Sure and we could also do a lot worse. He's played well the past month so we know he can do it, he just has to forget this game and move forward and continue to improve. Big loss on D last night but injuries are a part of life in the NFL. O-line is more of a concern than the D-line for me right now. With all the other weapons they have it's still going to come down to the o-lines performance.

I'm not that upset with Dalton. I know he is what he is. He will make some good 5 yard throws and some horrible deep balls with a coup0le great drives tossed in there now and then with also a couple really bad decisions which lead to turnovers tossed in there.

 

Andy is Dandy, nothing more nothing less. He is not an Elite QB nor will he ever become one. He will have his streaks of fooling people but will always come back down to earth and show us he hasn't changed.

 

IT is what it is. He is servicable until we draft a franchise QB, when will that be? Only MB knows the answer, but until then we are stuck with Dalton so may as well ride the rollercoaster that he is.

 

 

With all that said, I will disagree with you on he didn't lose the game....yes the defense gave up the tying FG with 1:30 mins left in the game....it was a FG. The defense didn't throw some horrible passes 3 times we were inside the 10 yard line last night. The defense didn't come away with only 1 TD when inside the redzone 4 times. The defense didn't turn the ball over 4 times. You want to say Sanu's int wasn't Daltons fault (which i disagree with because Dalton shouldn't of threw that ball in teh frist place) But I'll give you the Sanu int. Dalton is still responsible for 3 other turnovers plus a safety which resulted in 9 points for the dolphins. Those 3 and the safety were directly contributed to Andy Dalton, that is 9 points. Yet it wasn't Dalton's fault? I disagree.

 

Why shouldn't he have thrown that ball? Those are the same type of throws that we see the best QB's make and he actually made big boy throw there. It was in a tight window and on the money. With the league favoring the offense, going across the middle is still scary but not as bad as it use to be because your not allowed to hit a defenseless receiver. If Sanu catches that cleanly he probably can get down right away after the catch to protect himself. Instead he knocks the ball in the air and tries to stay with it and gets laid out. Nothing on that pass was on Andy. That was a great throw and a play a receiver should make. Shoot if Sanu catches that pass in overtime, the Bengals probably win after that too. Sanu is usually sure handed however he struggles hurt them tonight.

Sometimes you're the bug, and sometimes you're the windshield. Dalton's the windshield a lot more often. I'm glad he's got a shorter memory than his detractors. Turnovers killed them tonight, but you move on.

I am curious on that stat. Because I definitely don't think I have seen him complete nearly half of his deep throws. How many yards in the air do they consider a deep throw? I am not arguing the stat, I am just curious on the outline they use to come up with that. I know Dalton also is up there for longest pass receptions, however there were also a lot of plays that were yards after catch. Which also goes in the book for a long completion.

Ok I just wasn't sure if they posted what they used to determine that. Usually with stats like that, they will say with throws thrown 40+ yards in the air it was completed blank percent of the time. So I thought since you found the stat, that you might have seen what their guidelines were. I may try to look it up tomorrow, just because I am curious.

It seems like he's not nearly as good as he was before the last two games. He's also not as bad as he was today and at Cleveland. The problem is the average guy he actually is probably isnt good enough to win anything. Now we at least

know he is capable of getting hot for 3 or 4 games and beating good teams. I didn't know that before.

Dalton continues to either badly overthrow or badly underthrow when passing down field over 20 yards. Still waiting for just half a dozen passes in a season that hit the reciever in stride down field. Hasn't done that yet since he's reached the NFL

 

He continues to throw into double coverage evenwhenthe defnse shows it pre snap....that shows the inability to read defenses STILL.

 

He hardly ever, and i mean ever looks off his primary reciever especially on throws down field. Most of the time on deep throws he chucks it up right after the snap without even scanning the field. he jusst throws it to where he hopes the receiver will be. Go watch his film.
