The Cru should have a nice team this year. They were 10-16 last year but battled injuries all year. They are not only losing a great player in Meiman, they also lose Best and Hills. For a small school that would normally sting pretty hard. But I look for them to surprise some folks. They feature a couple of very nice big men; Kunstek and Noble. Both are big, strong and athletic. A healthy Nick Rechtin will make a difference this year as well. Guard Jake Plummer is another sleeper that you don't hear much about, but can handle the ball and score some points if you forget about him. They play in a tough district and a tough region but coach Faust, who is one of the best around, will have his team ready to go.

Good luck to the Cru. I'll probably catch their opening game against Brossart this year. A lot of the boys played several years of AAU with each other.

Will certainly miss the talent if Meiman, Best and Hils.

Look for soph guard Adam Goetz to help fill the void of Best and Hils.

Soph Paul Wallenhorst will also add some needed depth. Goetz and Wallenhorst played together on the NKY Bulldogs this past summer.

Paul is a jumping jack- you won't wear him out. Goetz has a very nice game

B-ball, especially high school b-ball, is a guards game. Cru needs good guard play to go along with strong interior game to have success.

I've heard lots of people whose opinion I really respect talk about St. Henry's program(s) in very high regard.

Something I wonder is why hasn't one of the larger schools in the NKY area gobbled up their head coach or at least some of the staff and tried to implement the things they do with a larger talent pool?

Its a catholic school thing. Coach Faust has been at St Henry forever. I know at one time he was not happy with his alma mater (Newport Catholic) because they did not discuss their opening with him. Not even sure way back then, he would have left St. Henry, but it may have been the only option. For a guy like coach Faust, it's not a money grab. He teaches where he teaches for the love of the kids and a love of the school. He is one of the reasons folks spend the extra $6,000 a year to send their kids there.

Well said, TAC.

Understand that, but what about members of his staff as well? Has it been one that's been the same over a number of years or have other smaller schools given them opportunities? Or is it more of a deal that's exactly like Faust's where they could go other places, but just choose not to.

I'm certain this will be the least popular thing I've ever posted on here (and that is saying something), and I have to preface it with I really like Dave as a person!

He is the perfect example of the "David West Theory" that Bill "The Sports Guy" Simmons references. You are under-rated for so long that when everyone finally jumps on your bandwagon, you actually become over-rated.

There are a lot of good coaches in Northern KY, a few great ones, and I'd put Dave squarely in the former group.

I'm a big fan of Conner Kunstek. I think he is going to have a big year for the Cru. Kid doesn't wow you with anything he does but plays hard and will be a tough front court match up for a lot of teams.

Cru are battling some injuries I understand in key positions. I hope they can heal up quickly.

Also hoping for a speedy recovery for all. Seems like some strange preseason curse right now.
