swamprat Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Mrs. S and I had just left the soccer match at USF. We turned on the 30th Street, at the southwest corner of the campus, and faced a gaggle of police and emergency vehicles at the Yuengling Brewery. When we went by, we saw a slew of fire trucks in front of the building. Probably won't know until tomorrow the extent of the damage to the storage building. TAMPA — Police and fire crews went to the Yuengling Brewery shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday following a report the building was “engulfed in flames.” Tampa Fire Rescue officials said workers in the building at 11111 N. 30th St. were evacuated safely. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the brewery’s storage building. It was declared a two-alarm fire, and upwards of 60 firefighters were called to the scene, fire officials said. More ...
Birdsfan Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 PLEASE DO NOT TELL RTS ABOUT THIS!! I don't know if he's strong enough to take the shock. :scared:
Birdsfan Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 It was a two-alarm fire in which over 60 firefighters were called to the scene... ...and over 400 showed up.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Somebody is already going through withdrawals I'd bet!
Getslow Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Where's that dude from Georgia who runs into fires for beer when you need him?
TheDeuce Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Yuengling isn't all it's cracked up to be. Yeah, I said it!
PurplePride92 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Yuengling isn't all it's cracked up to be. Yeah, I said it! Nobody asked you.
Jim Schue Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Yuengling isn't all it's cracked up to be. Yeah, I said it! It's good enough to where I raised an eyebrow high at this thread, and I would be definitely crying if I knew this happened in Pennsylvania.
swamprat Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Great news!! Even though the damage is estimated at over a million dollars, the fire did not get to the beer stored there. I repeat. The beer was unharmed. It will be business as usual tomorrow morning.
TTS_JF Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Can anyone tell me why Yuengling isn't sold in at least my part of KY? I see it in Ohio and have bought it in Nashville as well, but not in KY.

Jumper_Dad Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Still doesn't explain why you can get it in Ohio and Tennessee but not Kentucky.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Interesting to see that Teamsters boycott them due to employees voting to de-certify the union in 2006.
TTS_JF Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Doesn't make sense, but somethings in life dont. Lucky for me I usually keep a couple cases on stand-by at the house. Had a few yesterday during the Bengal game.
Getslow Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Reading that page on their site makes it sound like they moved up from Florida and South from Pennsylvania. Could be that Kentucky's next but they don't currently have the brewing capacity to open another market. And they'd have to find a Kentucky distributing company when they finally decided to do so (though that's hardly a problem).
