Should the KHSAA ever impose a "Death Penalty" on a school or should they...

determine who the responsible adult parties are for any serious violations and impose the "death penalty" on them?

Answering my own question no on a school because it would affect too many innocent people (young and old) but absolutely on the responsible adults.

How should it work? What should the KHSAA do? What does the KHSAA have the authority to do?

I agree. You can't punish kids who had nothing to do with the violations. Punish the "adults" and leave the kids out of it.

I could foresee some type of "show-cause" stipulation like the NCAA has for coaches, but it would be hard to do much with a principal or superintendent. Their punishment will likely come from the State Board of Education if the violation was severe enough.

I fully believe that coaches should be punished, either monetarily or with suspensions or both on a sliding scale for serious violations. The same goes for any other participating adult (AD, Principal, Super, etc.).

I would not be against monetary penalties against the offending schools, however, I agree that the athletic programs should not get the death penalty because it would be punishing the wrong parties.

Punish Coaches, Administrators and maybe students involved...but no Death Penalty.

No death to a school but yes to coaches and authorities involved but the KHSAA is somewhat limited in how far their authority can go as it should be

I don't like the idea of a death penalty. Isn't this basically what happened to Rose Hill though? They might not have been given a "death penalty" per se, but it was sanctions that crippled the program.

I agree, no death penalty for the school. I believe the KHSAA can dictate who they allow to coach, right? That gives them the authority to suspend/ban coaches. What could they do about boosters that are acting (recruiting) without the school's or coach's knowledge?
