Interesting comments from Walt about Votto...

Maybe Price will take off the kid gloves and talk to him like a man. Change your approach a little bit or you will be hitting 2nd.

He should hit 2nd. It is dumb to ask a guy that already strikes out as much as he does to swing at more pitches. The Reds have no idea how important it is to not make outs. The only person in the entire organization that gets it is Votto. Mind boggling stuff.

Well, he and Choo. I really really want them to trade BP and/or a pitcher so they can try to resign Choo, and possibly get a decent bat in return. If they would bat Choo and Votto 1-2, I think the offense would thrive. :idunno:

Perhaps he wouldn't strike out so much if he swung the bat more. You know how many called 3rd strikes he had this year?

I know he's said repeatedly that he isn't changing his approach b/c it makes him the hitter he is. I know that he swung and missed way more this year than everyone clamoring for him to swing more knows or wants to admit.

I don't think Choo will be back, but it does seem they really want him back. Jocketty and Castellini love giving guys too many years and too much money so it wouldn't be shocking.

For you stat heads I don't understand why anyone would argue against Votto in the 2 hole. But alas there isn't a classic 3 hole in the organization.

Here's a question....Say they don't retain Arroyo or Choo, and they trade BP for some prospects...What about seeing what it would take to get Carlos Beltran? He's a perfect fit for the 3 hole.

Beltran will be a Yankee.

I think the Reds are going to make an effort to re-sign Choo, but given the interest that he's going to draw from New York, Chicago & other big markets, I don't see how it's possible to retain him.

That was the question I was going to ask. If Votto hits 2nd, who hits 3rd?

Never mind. There are so many moving parts it is a waste of time to even think about it. we are just going to have to wait and see what moves the Reds make this winter.
