And just to reiterate, I wanted to draw attention to the fact that Rob Ryan could have had a conversation with Rex where he said something to the effect of, "we got screwed when New England beat us on that last second field goal... they "pushed" on that field goal attempt with around 2:30 left in the 4th quarter... if the stripes had called a 15 yard penalty, we'd have had a first down and could have scored... you should stay on the refs about calling that". That was kind of insinuated in some of the articles if you read between the lines. Of course, it's entirely possible that the Jets staff picked that up in the tape themselves, and/or that they would have picked it up eventually even if Rob had not mentioned it to Rex. Where it gets a little murky though is the fact that it ended up being something that could effect the Saints' playoff chances. Because of the NFL's procedures with tiebreakers and strength of schedule, it could end up being such that the Saints are hurt by Rob pointing that out to Rex and changing the outcome of a game. New Orleans plays both New England and the Jets, so the chances of it working out this way are fairly slim, but are there nonetheless. I think we'd be naïve to believe that this type of thing doesn't happen all the time amongst coaches who are friends, coaches who are mentor & mentee. Just so happens these two are brothers. Still don't have a problem with it.
October 23, 201312 yr If anyone has ever coached you constantly tell referees to look out for certain things. Holding, cut blocks, push-offs, etc.

October 24, 201312 yr Belichick fired back that the Jets did it too and Ryan crushed him (my opinion) in a presser. It is interesting to see just how thin-skinned Belichick is when things don't go his way which isn't often.

Jets Cheated Too I do not think it is about the act itself, but the fact Rex was shrewd enough to capitalize on it and Belichick didn't is what grates him.
October 24, 201312 yr Coaches are in the officials ears the entire game pointing out a certain player that is holding all the time, a certain player that tends to get away with pushing off etc. it's nothing new and don't even know why this is a story. If I was a coach and knew the other team was breaking the rules I would tell the officials to look for it. The only reason it's a story is because it happened against the Patriots.

October 24, 201312 yr The only reason it's a story is because it happened against the Patriots. And the fact it changed the outcome of the game. That is two victories for the Jets thanks to late moment blunders by the opposition. Remember in week 1 the idiotic late hit against the Bucs.

Rex crushed Big Bill. Ethically I am sure a lot of NFL coaches live in the gray but any way you cut it Rex crushed him.
