First ever meeting between the Colonels and the Mustangs, in Paducah. MCHS has a potent offense but Henderson has a strong defensive resume! Who wins and why?

Could go either way. Pretty evenly matched teams. If McCracken plays solid on the defensive end, I think they'll take it, but, wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

Henderson...Haskins' coached teams are normally soft against the run...and Henderson will bludgen you with the run.

I think McCracken Co wins and does so fairly easily

The Mustangs shut down a good Bullitt Central running game earlier in the year.

You could be right however I can't imagine what would make you think that. On paper this game should be a dog fight but I guess that's why they don't play on paper.

You are 100% correct, it's a gut feeling and a little homerism given they are nearby. McCracken has improved weekly and they are now back at 100%, somthing they were not earlier in the year. They really want this and I expect a great effort and it's at home. That said, Hendo is certainly capable of winning and may well do so and maybe they are the better team. I like their new coach who has been impressive long before moving across the river. In big school football, any given Friday, anybody is capable of winning or atleast much more so than in the smaller classes where the bad are usually so bad that its near impossible.

McCracken's sophomore QB Hughes is getting better each week. I actually think McCracken wins this by jumping on top early. I'll say 35-21 McCracken.

The only thing that will really surprise me in this game is a blow out one way or the other. I'm not sure I can remember a Henderson game where I truly thought either team could win. Most games you could make a case for either team but you still have one or the other that should win. I just don't see that here. Both have steadily improved every week and both seem to be pretty evenly matched in speed and strength. It's cliche but I think whoever makes the least mistakes wins.

Regardless of who wins Friday, these two might well meet again down the road.

Agreed...this game will decide the location of the next meeting

Not sure about that just yet. The second place finisher will have to play at Meade County in the second round, which is always difficult. But I do believe McCracken and Henderson are the two best teams in the 6A-West.

I was just about to say the same. Not to mention Central Hardin will be in the mix. I would just assume worry about this one week at a time. There's been plenty of years when Henderson should have cake walked to semi-state and didn't get there. Also years when they had no business making it out of the second round but won the region.

Well said and I agree for the most part. Still, I see a strong chance for another clash down the road. But first things first. Good luck to both squads and safe travels to the Colonels on the trip down!
