Is Simon Kenton a real threat to win it all?

Featured Replies

Not a Simon Kenton fan, but they have a great chance to get to the finals and face a team whose played 2-3 tough games just to get there. Whoever wins the Louisville semi will have had a much tougher road to get there and, according to who you ask, Simon Kenton would only need to play one game "above their heads" to win it all. That's the main thing I see.

I'd be willing to go with this scenario as in "so you're saying there's a chance!"

If a lot of "ifs" come together, then I agree they could be set up to at least have a chance.

Even though the big guys will all be on the other side, looking at the probabilities, who would SK meet in the playoffs? Do they have a cake walk to the playoffs even though the big guys are on the other side? They still have to win some games to get there.

Just a question...they matched up well, but still got beat bad? And did the passing game vastly improve or did the opponents get easier? Also, X may not even be in the top 4 this year. So what does "they matched up well against X in the scrimmage" (that they were beat bad in) do to convince us they have a shot?

SK also scrimmaged X without one of their best players on defense Barry Deaton.

I think SK is closer to the top dogs than people want to admit and while Trinity may still win 6A this season this could be their toughest state championship in quite some time. I wouldn't count out SK......yet. I'm not sold that Scott County is the 2nd best 6A team and it's definitely not a cake walk for Trinity this year. 6A playoffs could be a lot of fun this year.

In reality the Pioneers have one thing on their mind. That is beating Dixie on Senior night!

21 to 14 was the Varsity score.

Not what the X fans said after the game, but I'll let you go with that. Still lost to maybe the 5th best team in 6A.

Again, I hope they do well. But like I said and have said, the schedule makes it look like fools gold. Looks really good until its tested.

We heard this all year last year too. Do you think Conner or Collins could even be on the same field as those top 4??? And they barely beat them. Why should we believe that you can all of a sudden compete with the big guys? CC scored 35 on ya. What do you think T, Male or SC would do?? And you're not scoring 55 against them!!!

I agree.

Did X have all their players? Any injuries on their side of the ball?

I agree.

No doubt they are closer than ever before and nothing would make me happier than to see someone from up here do something, just not buying what they are selling yet. They have not played anyone that could even come close to the size, speed, depth, talent or athleticism that any of those top 4 teams have (even in down years) and barely won a couple of those games. Just not seeing it.

Who will SK see in the playoffs prior to the finals?

At halftime of that scrimmage it was 14-7, after 3 qtrs it was 21-14.

I just watched it again and the scores I posted in this thread are accurate.

Just stating what they said. They said the 14 came on second team D. I have no idea. I wasn't there. Did SK score late in the first half or something? I remember them saying no points against their first team. Again, just stating what I remember from the post game thread.

St X second score came with 8:46 to go in the second qtr. SK scored to make it 14-7 with 6:34 to go in the half.

Both St X tds were set up on deep fades down the sideline ,when SK was playing pressed up cover 2 and the WR beat the corner at the LOS. Sweet to watch!

Beginning of the season SK was running the ball wearing team down. Since the first district game they have really opened the playbook.

Just to clarify my earlier post about SK up front, I was talking about their defense. Now on offense they struggled at times on pass protection and picking up blitzes in the scrimmage but BK's legs helped out.
