Yes the AAC has an automatic bid as of this year so Louisville will be guaranteed a BCS bowl presuming they take care of business as they should.

Weird box score. Louisville racks up almost 500 yards, double Rutgers in yardage, gets a boatload of sacks and interceptions and it's still a touchdown game in the 4th quarter.

 

Why would I be happy with that? The redzone offense is just lost without Parker. The play calling is too vanilla, but it's an effort to physically protect Bridgewater. Watson would rather teams think that Louisville is a run first and second team than for defenses to pin their ears back and go after Teddy. Right or wrong, I'm pretty sure that's the mindset. Personally, I think it's an indictment of the offensive line.

 

Rutgers is a decent team. They've lost twice this year, and both times to teams with undefeated seasons. Frankly, change them from the state school of New Jersey to, say, Mississippi and they would have a good shot at being ranked. They aren't world beaters, but they aren't the famed LSotP. Louisville beat them by 14 on a night they left about 17 points on the field.

 

Louisville's defense is legit. Loved how they showed out last night. Except for a breakdown on a trick play, they did everything that you could hope for, so I'm certainly not despondent, but the offense has no right to be this reliant on Parker in the redzone.

As long as Louisville doesn't lose they will be ranked high enough at the end of the season to get a BCS bid even if they were a member of the Sun Belt. Check the BCS rules.

Just in from the game just few thoughts.

 

1. Defesnse was great.

2. Band is awful

3. Crowd was awesome

4. Kicking game stinks.

 

5. Shawn Watson is killing this team. Terrible play calling. UL offense is at it's best runing not huddle Teddy is able to get in a flow. Double Tight 2 backs will always get 9 in the box. Every time this team is inside the 10 we play for PAR!

 

I hope Coach Bedford punches Shawn Watson in the throat! OPEN up the PLAY BOOK. Stop trying to play 3 running backs. Brown best one we have give him majority of the carries!

 

I am glad I am not the only one fed up with Watson. This guy sucks the life out of the crowd. It was extremely rowdy in the stadium last night, up until we ran the ball twice from the 13 yard line to score on the first drive. Settling for a field goal there sucked the air out of the place. Luckily the crowd didn't let that affect them after that drive was over, but he's got to do what works and score touchdowns. Field goals with this offense just isn't acceptable IMO.

Couple notes....

 

1) Any slim chance UofL had of playing for a National Championship has gone completely out the window.

 

2) Nova is the worst college QB I've seen in a long long time. If he were simply "below-average" Rutgers may have won this game.

 

3) Teddy Bridgewater's Heisman hopes are done.

 

4) I can't imagine NFL scouts left thinking Teddy was the unquestioned #1 pick, as was the case before the game.

 

5) Louisville's defense is legit. Much better than I thought.

 

6) Would've been real interesting to see the outcome had the DE for Rutgers scooped the fumble and taken it to the house, instead of falling on it. That play may have cost Rutgers.

I just don't think your realistic with yourself bro. And you bring up other teams schedules to deter reality from ULs. You downplay Northwestern but as of last night, nothing really makes me feel certain UL could go on the road against a top 15 team and win.

Pretty much sums it up for me. For UL to have a shot we knew it would be an uphill battle. That is three underwhelming performances - especially on offense - for half of their games. I am starting to lean with Watson playing a big role in that, though Teddy is culpable as well. I did not catch the first half, but I know in the 4th he missed an open WR, meaning nobody within 10-15 yards of him, for an easy TD.

Nova was embarrassing bad. Like I said he looked like a converted WR trying to play QB. A few of his passes were directly to UL players.

 

There were 20 scouts at the game, I don't think Teddy played bad but nobody left the stadium buzzing about his performance. I think he bounces back next week for a 4 TD game.

You also have to give a lot of credit to how bad Nova looked to the UL defense. But they are not Steel Curtain great. :lol2: He was horrific.

UCF has some playmakers and a pro caliber QB. Up front against South Carolina they were absolutely crushed but still managed to hang around late with some big plays.

He missed at least one open receiver in the first half. Definitely not his best game.

 

It's already been said but thought it worth saying again, Calvin Pryor is an absolute beast. I thought they made a perfect comparison last night on the broadcast. They said he plays like Bob Sanders. Thought that was spot on, just hope he is more durable then Bob.

Teddy's pick was a terrible throw. Threw into double coverage to an undersized receiver. The play in the 4th you are talking about was to Copeland. There was nobody in the same zip code, and Teddy threw it out of bounds. Never seen him miss a throw that bad.
