This is the fourth year for the school, third year for the football program. Carved mostly out of Greenwood due to overcrowding there with a (crucial) slice from Warren Central.

This is the 3rd year for varsity football at South Warren. 4th Year of Existence. First year only played Freshmen and JV football then opened up in 2011 at Raferty's Bowl with Warren East.

 

Some numbers to Chew on Bernil Cecil of E-town is Leading Class 3A in Yards and TD's 916 Yards and 14 TD's 153 average per game yet against South Warren he had 0 TD and only 38 Yards.

 

Eli Brown a Vanderbilt Commit from Warren East is averaging 147 yards a game and 12 TD's but was held to 54 yards and 0 TD's against South.

 

In addition to that some of the differences on Stats from what I am told is on Defense a fumble recovery on a punt attempt which is 12 to 15 yards deep or a tackle of the punter at 12 to 15 yards on a botched snap counts as negative rushing yards for the defense since it was a play by the offense yet some teams don't list the punter as having a negative rushing yards since they normally don't play in the back field and fail to include that in there total yards lost etc on the stats.

 

In addition some stats don't match on yards example DC says south only gained 358 yards South says 360 in there stats that based on the estimate that the person from each school is keeping and based on spots sometimes people don't see things the same.

I remember after the Warren East game the media seemed to half-shame East into correcting their stats to take into account the blocked punts (which are supposed to be in there). South Warren had it at the -28 but East had something like around 50 on theirs.

There is absolutely no denying South Warren's defense is impressive... even splitting hairs on the difference in stats the numbers are simply eye popping.

South Warren was built on a Farm in the Richpond Community out Nashville Road. About half way between Franklin and Bowling Green maybe a little less. Right across from Richpond Elementary School.

 

As DragonFire Said it was made up of kids from Greenwood and Warren Central. Biggest portion from Greenwood. If anyone remembers Greenwood was around 1800 students and Classed as a 6A school but when South opened it dropped Greenwood to around 1200 students and took a portion of the Rockfield community from Warren Central.

Richpond area if you're familiar with that. It's out Nashville Road/31W towards Franklin. They're actually closer to Franklin-Simpson than they are to Warren East.

Thanks guys. When I was living in BG that area out past (East of) I-65 was wide-open! Amazing that now Greenwood (which opened when I was living there) and now South Warren are out there. Unless my memory is letting me down on where Richpond is. Happy for that area to see it growing so rapidly.

My wife went to WKU in the mid and late 90's so I spent about every other weekend there. The place doesn't even look like the same town. It is amazing how much it has grown.

While Daviess County has traditionally been at the bottom what some have not looked at is they are 4 and 2 now they also have only given up 8, 10, 18, and 8 points over the last 4 weeks. Yes they have big numbers up to Owensboro and Owensboro Cath. South out gained them 350 +/- yards to 155+/- yards. 4 trips in red zone with missed field goal, four and out from around 10 yard line, made field goal, fumble on 6 yard line as time expired. Not counting the interception from the 28 yard line in the first half and the 45 yard td run called back for holding. It's also interesting to note south had 15 penalties to DC one.

What I am saying is based on stats and seeing the game in person that game was a fluke. Maybe they were a little over confident going in to it maybe they need a wake up call some times a loss like this is the best thing for them. I know they struggled in the red zone, I know the defense didn't set them up in a lot of short field positions like in the past few games. I know DC punted the ball better than any other team they have played.

 

But Souths defense is that good this year. Some of it is the competition and some of it is they are just that good.

 

That is not surprising considering that has been the Panthers most effective play over the past 25 years or so.
