It's really sad how you give Highlands such a bad name. Some have talked about UK#1fan and what he does for SK, although I actually like UK#1fan but you really make it hard to like anything about Highlands when they have you as a fan. What a shame.

If running counts, then why is Houliston ranked that high? He has something like -78 yards rushing this year and his career Is something like -126 rushing. I actually rank him #2 but if you are using the criteria of running also which looks like holds more weight than actual passing, then that doesn't make much sense.

 

Was just curious because Ludwig has better completion %, more yards and TD's as well as better rusher with 200 yards rushing and about a 3 yrd per rush avg compared to Fieger who only has 21 yards rushing and a 0.5 yds per rush avg.

 

I like Fieger's overall game which is mainly passing. IMO he's a better passer than Will. I'm looking at more than just a stats standpoint I'd have ranked Cy Smith top 2 or 3 a few years ago if I just went stats. Threw for 2k yards. He was OK - not great.

Drew Houliston has not had a single play called this year that was a designed QB run. Zero. Zilch.

 

Does this mean he can't run? Not at all. He is just so accurate and proficient throwing the ball, why bother running.

I can understand that. I would say I think Fieger has a better potential. I think in 2 years he will be one of the best in the area. Just going off this year though I'd have to disagree, and I even listed him as one of my top 3 Pre season, but this season both he and Ludwig are avg around 13 yards a completion, both have the same compl % and Will has more Passing TD's and more yards as well is having better rushing numbers! Yards, and avg per carry

 

Fieger may throw a prettier ball, but isn't the end result what we want? I'd just have to agree to disagree on those two as of right now. Future is different when talking potential, but this season I'd have to give the nod to Ludwig and put him 4th or 5th on the list

I agree. I only mentioned it because Running was one of the major aspects used to rank the QB's on his list.

 

I personally think passing is more important than anything else. I'd rather have an Andrew Luck than a Mike Vick. But that is just me. Everyone has their own opinions, and you are right, it really depends on the offense they are playing in and what is asked of them.

Or he's just never under pressure and his receivers are always open. QB is the the hardest position to judge because we don't know the preparation that goes into every game. Who makes more audibles? Who goes through reads and who just plays backyard football? A great team can make an average QB look good and a bad team can make a great QB look average. Anyone watching this Giants game? All of the sudden Eli Manning has some of the worst stats in the NFL, but I think we can all agree he's better than his stats. I can't tell you guys how much this discussion bugs me.

To be correct, running wasn't a "major" criterion. I mentioned it because unlike the old days when we just looked at QBs as passers today we have to look at total production - running and passing. That's why I have Drew Moore up there. He's such a weapon from the QB position with his legs even though IMO he's not a great passer. Houliston is still very high DESPITE no rushing stats because, again, I'm looking at his ability to produce from the position. It's not just total stats, though. It's ability to make certain throws. Decision-making (although that's a hard one to measure for us fans). Does he make stupid throws very often?

 

Houliston has NO demerits from me for his lack of running. It's just a requirement for that offense.

In reading this thread I have wasted 20 minutes of my life that I can never get back. Holy sheep crap, who is the best, who isn't the best, really! Obviously Barker has the offers and commitment to UK, which of course UK#1 fan claims to have an inside source who tells him that UK doesn't really think Barker is the best, I guess we will see the second week of February when letters of intent are signed. Kuntz is good, really good, will not be surprised to see him playing on Saturdays at EKU, Murray or another Missouri Valley type school, maybe even in the MAC. I personally didn't see him ascending to this level, and I am glad I am wrong. I personally don't know much about the QB from Highlands, but if Dale has him as the #1 I'm sure he's pretty darn good, Highlands QB's get accused of being system QB's, and I'm not sure that's fair, but it may be a point. All three are darn good players and most everyone would love to have them take control of their huddle, lets celebrate we have this level of talent in NKY and not split hairs over who has averages .1 more yards per rush!
