This should be a Tiger 2 TD win, but they have not played the Bulldogs well the last 2 years and it wasn't speed that hurt them, it was turnovers and penalties. It's safe to say that the Tigers played their most disappointing games against Holmes over the 2 years (1-1). So you never know. I do believe the Tigers will pay attention to the 'dogs. I don't think it will be a rout, but you never know.

The more I look at the game, the more I lean toward a wider margin of victory for Beechwood. If Beechwood doesn't allow big plays, it could get to a rout. The more big plays Holmes is able to make, the closer the score will be. If Beechwood wins by less than 2 TD's, it will be a disappointing outing for the Tigers and a step back in their development.

Without getting in their heads, you will never know, but I always felt like it was that they simply just didn't come to play. Holmes is always going to be dangerous. They always have the talent that can blow a door open if you leave it open a bit. They are not to the type of team to kick the doors down on a good team. They have athletes for sure, the discipline is generally not there. If Beechwood doesn't take control and makes mistakes, then it may be a disapointing night. The key difference this year for Beechwood is that the Talent is not concentrated in a few players and overall there is a great deal of speed. The speed has always been the one-thing keeping Holmes in the games vs Beechwood.

I'm being serious here. Holmes can do exciting things in its shotgun offense. But first the center has to snap the ball above the ankles, and the QB has to catch the snap without juggling it or fumbling it.

I haven't seen a lot of Holmes, but the QB looks like a threat running the ball but not much of a threat throwing it. He seems to lob the ball up and hope the receiver wins the battle for the ball. Scruggs is obviously a big threat as he can turn any play into a TD run. The line looks slow and that will be a problem against Beechwood's fast, aggressive defensive line. I can see Beechwood continuing to struggle running the ball because Holmes seems to blitz a lot which will fill gaps and make it tough to run. Holmes looks very suspect defending the pass, and that should be a big problem versus Beechwood. I look for some big plays in the passing game for Beechwood. One of the more interesting battles will be the return games. Both teams have return games that are a threat to score on every return. This game has the potential for some exciting offensive plays with the speed and playmakers on the field. To me, Holmes does not look as good as last year. Holmes looks better coached but they don't have as much talent as they had last year. I expect an easy Beechwood win.

Actually, both of Holmes' QBs have done a nice job throwing the long ball accurately, based on what I've seen this year vs. H.C., Lloyd and WV. (I didn't see the Scott loss.) Yes, if BW can pick up the Bulldogs' second-half blitzes, then the opportunity is golden for long pass completions. Holmes' offense may be too reliant on trying to get the ball to Scruggs in open space three plays out of five, but when you got a player that fast and slippery to bring down, you never know when he'll break one.

I agree that for some reason BW typically plays a lackluster game against the Bulldogs, last year they had Nussbaum out and Erdman got hurt on the third series, that pretty much sealed the fate of the Tigers, they had few weapons left in their arsenal. This year I see them passing the ball to set up the run much like they did at Franklin County. Other than the fumble it was Stringers best effort carrying the football this year, I look for BW to win by 14, but you never know till you tee it up.
