Tigers travel to Covington Friday night.

Beechwood comes in off a loss to Franklin Co.

Holmes comes in off a bye.

Who wins and why? Can the Tigers handle the speed of Holmes' skill guys? Can Holmes stop the passing attack of Beechwood?

Beechwood 28-21.

BW and it won't be close

I wouldn't go that far. If they play like last week, then this will be true. My concern is that they have been up and down. If they play like they did in the Holy Cross game, then I'm concerned it will be much closer than it should.

That's one scenario. Another is that Holmes' speed alters Beechwood's game, forces turnovers, which is what happened last year when Holmes won 33-21 at BW. Playing Franklin Co. last week probably helps BW this week vs. Scruggs.

Beechwood's skill guys may be faster than Holmes (except J. Scruggs). Franklin County has more speed than Holmes and Beechwood was just fine. The Tigers held Franklin County's fast backs in check most of the night last Friday. When you hold the Franklin County offense to 14 through 3 quarters, you have to have speed. Speed at the skill positions will not be the difference in this game for either side.

I don't think Holmes has faced a passing attack like Beechwood's. It will be interesting to see how they handle that.

Looking at the resume of each team, I look for Beechwood to win by a couple TD's.

I don't think Holmes has more speed than Franklin Co. So I'm not worried about that. Beechwood has to play disciplined football and our Line needs to control things on defense and offense.

Again, if coaches mix it up like they did and the boys play like they did at FCHS game, then I predict a great outcome.

Your analysis is solid. Holmes is still a work in progress in regard to its (blitzing) pass defense.

Scruggs is extremely fast. Lorenzo McCaskell for Franklin County is faster. Franklin Co. had a couple other WR/backs that were very fast. You are right, the Franklin Co. game (and the speed of Lima in game one for BW) helped the Tigers. Holmes is not going to have any speed that Beechwood has not seen already.

If BW doesn't drop passes or the qb doesn't overthrow open receivers, this game won't be close. If BW cannot get the passing game going, this game might be close. However, Holmes isn't good on D and the offensive play calling is suspect at times so I still think BW wins easily

If Beechwood doesn't get the passing game going, they will probably lose. The running game was the best all season on Friday night versus Franklin County, but I don't think Beechwood can beat a good team with just its running game. It just isn't there yet. Getting better, but not there yet.

Beechwood will be fine IMO. They are going thru growing pains just like Mayfield did when Jake Ghuy was a sophomore. Beechwood will be a handful next year for just about anyone in the state. Up and coming QB with a good O-line blocking for him. Same recipe that Mayfield has.

Beechwood should win this but on the grass favors Holmes. Beechwood should be able to spread Holmes out on offense and defensively should be okay. Might not be a large margin of victory though.
