We charge $5 at high school sporting events. The volleyball team barely covers officials at that price. So i can understand the move to $8.

The show was an international fireworks competition hosted by the Rozzis. There were fireworks crews from several countries there. The competitors used Rozzi's equipment for the competition, and then they (Rozzi) put on their own show at the end. The $30 "parking" signs you were seeing were actually just indicating the way they were pricing admission. Like they used to do at the old drive-ins, it was one price for however many people you could stuff into your car. If I didn't have a party I had to go to, I would've been there for sure.

Played one game on Friday and cost $8, played several on Saturday and was $8. Me, wife and 3 kids $40 to see one game on Friday and $40 on Saturday. Mix in concession money spent and its well over $100.

Well you could have parked at River City softball for $10 a carload. Or stood on US 27 where it passes over 275 for free.

I'd gladly pay the $2 admission fee to the Clubhouse if it would keep some of the present rift out.

Supply and demand. As long as the demand is there and willing to pay, nothing will change. Prices will continue to increase until enough folks quit paying...

 

The crime I see is charging a high rate for HS sporting events that don't bring In a lot of pure fans. Than it becomes screwing those who are paying to see family members play. The non feature sports are generally not money makers and don't get the casual fan. The $8.00 is taking advantage of the family of the athlete.

FYI the cover charge in Orlando's (Disney) wide world of sports was $16.00 per day.

I don't care if it was a fundraiser or not. Parking prices over the last decade have gotten way out of hand. I heard Dallas Cowboys charge $70 to park for a Cowboys game. One of the best things about giving up my Bengals season tickets was the money I saved for parking. It was ridiculous.

I agree. To tell you the truth, when I had Bengals season tickets all those years I think I bought maybe 1 beer at the stadium. It is ridiculous what they charge.

To answer your questions; I think, in this particular instance, it's because many of these people would gladly partake or partake more in some of the mentioned activities if they were more reasonably priced, but they are getting so outrageous it's pricing the average person out. My girlfriend has been wanting to go see a Bengals game. Just the cost of the tickets was enough to make me hesitate. If I have to spend $30.00 for parking, I know I'm not going.

What would you have those sports do then? If they have to be profitable, and the only way for them to create income is via gate receipts, what else do you want them to do? If more people showed up, ticket prices could be less, if they dont, prices have to go up to cover cost.

You see, YOU know things like that...many people coming from outside that area don't.

 

And I wasn't complaining, just throwing out my perception of what people were saying as there are many times I feel the same way. I don't mind paying a fair price for something, and I'm all about capitalism, but there comes a point to were it just seems crazy, and that's the point I think that some are trying to make. It used to be a time you could enjoy a nice outing with the family and go to a ball game, go to a fireworks show, to the movies, etc. without breaking the bank (and flying to Australia isn't usually on that list, though I would love to do that myself). It just seems like those simple things have become cost prohibitive the past few years.
