Final this morning.

Ryle took the opening kickoff and scored on a long drive. Beechwood responded with a TD and the game scoring went back and forth from there. It was never more than a one score spread but Beechwood trailed the entire game until they scored with 3:34 to go in the game to take the lead. Here are your scoring plays:

Ryle - Rytlewski to England, 17 yard pass reception. Bouvin XP. 7-0 Ryle with 3:23 to go in Q1.

So does England play JV and Varsity? How many other players do that? Unless that position is completely depleted, I don't see why you have kids play both schedules.

Congrats to Grant and the Beechwood Tigers on a big WIN in Union. Good luck going forward. JD

I wondered that too. If he starts varsity , why would you have him play JV? Must have really wanted a JV win. Pretty stupid IMO, JV should be about development and letting the young guys get some playing time.

England is a young guy that needs developing.....

Like I said - the only reason I can agree with a kid playing both JV and Varsity (or even Freshman and JV which I think this kid did last year), is if the position he plays is completely depleted. Sounds like he's lining up at WR. I seriously doubt Ryle is depleted of its WR's.

Are you going off first hand knowledge or are you assuming? What would you know about the depth on Ryle's football team or the plan that Coach Warner has with England.

And you said, JV should be for developing young players. Collin England is a sophomore. He defines young player...Regardless of the depth Ryle has and regardless of how many snaps he gets on offense, England is a JV player.

Not uncommon and actually a good idea in cetain situations. Mayfield has occasionally do that if there is a kid playing varsity that needs more experience though it is a very rare practice. Usually has occurred for us after a player is thrown into a spot after a injury

Yes he does. Played Varsity against Conner and came back the next morning as their JV work horse. KY needs the 5 quarter rule like the one OH uses.

So does the kid play varsity or not?

He plays varsity but he is not a varsity starter. Many teams play kids as subs yet are still capable of playing on JV. It would be an injustice to the kid to play limited snaps and not be available to play JV.

Are you a politician? So, is "NOT Uncommon" or a "Very Rare Practice"? Those two are mutually exclusive. It is clearly uncommon and that's why people are asking about it. I was very shocked to read that England was playing JV. I know I saw his name in the Varsity Game reports.

Perhaps this approach to development is why Ryle goes up and down year to year. If you are developing a player that already plays Varsity, then you are not developing some other player that wil be needed in the future. There are other JV Players this year that need that experience so they are ready if and when they get the call. Joe Studer from Beechwood wouild be an excellent example. Without his development during the JV Season last year, he likely would not have been able to step in and do what he has done since Mitch Thomas went down. Same thing with Jeremy Burns.
