O.B.I. new player?

Featured Replies

OBI is hard to predict because of their player rotations.

They lost to the # 2 team in the 13th region by 5, and two weeks later Pineville had them down by 40 in the third quarter before finally calling the dogs off and winning by 30....at OBI!.

Go figure.

Then he must be from Boston or NYC. :D

Just what I thought, A YANKEE!!! :irked:

They aren't in the 14th so it never was an issue with us but I always sort of respected OBI. They take those kids and give them some normal teenage stuff to be involved in, like basketball and very seldom do you see any kind of bad attitudes, etc. out of the kids and they play hard and are competitive. It's a credit to whoever coaches them and the program itself I think. As for the kid not speaking English it's very possible but I could almost gurantee he got there on the up and up.

I don't think those kids are there of there own 'free will', and I don't think for a minute that the Oneida staff is trying to recruit and build a powerhouse team. I agree too that those kids always act decent on the court. Sure makes 'em hard to scout though.

I don't think OBI's team changes that much. Out of their 5 starters I think 4 of them have been playing there since middle school.

I'm going to say that's better then 75% of the other high schools!

Oneida Baptist could build a powerhouse if they wanted to. They are a boarding school and could bring in kids from all over the country to enhance their basketball program. But they don't. I was joking about that with one of their coaches a few years ago, and he said they were not in the business of promoting basketball games, they were in the business of promoting Jesus Christ. They are very sincere about that.

I was listening to 105.7 this morning located out of Manchester and they were talking about OBI having a 6'8 or 6'9 kid that was ruled eligible to play today.

Does anyone know anything about this?
