Heard that Walter was trying to get an interview with Bye's QB, but he just disappeared after the game.

Well I did get wet and indeed I took "The Boss" out for a nice dinner after the game.

 

The score and the recount of the game as reported by HB were correct and I am sorry to say my notes of the game got destroyed in the rain, however what was not reported was that Coach Wirth knowing full well that the game next Saturday vs. Highlands is much more important, gave both the JV and Varsity players the night off and in HHS fashion secured the future by starting the entire freshmen team.

 

Hentz who has done such a great job as the starting QB so far this season was replaced by CVH in the second half and CVH and Angel then went on a tear shredding the Bye DB's with long pass after long pass. Best and Thiel both had INT's in the 2nd half and Shelton never dropped a pass all night long.

 

Even in the driving rain storm Hornsby was dead on, on his PAT attempts and the Schrands did themselves ever proud on both the "O" and "D" side.

 

Oh I forget to mention Tuemler 99 yard bubble screen TD reception from CVH that so fouled the Bye "D" that he could have ran backwards the last 30 yards and still made it in for the 6 points.

 

All in all the Frosh did great and earned their varsity letters.....

 

BTW on the fake punt, it was Angel who ran the 63 yards with the score!

After such a demoralizing defeat, Bye is still hopefull of getting a BCS (Bye championship series) Bowl bid.

What TOG didn't tell you guys is that ONCE AGAIN he got no roster from Bye's stat cat. When the stat cat couldn't take TOG's complaining about it any longer he quickly typed one up.

 

However, once TOG actually took a look at it he found that every jersey number had the same name . TOG assumed it was Cajun - Scrooyh Eewe.

 

It's either to early or was it going to bed to late :idunno: but the play of the game turned out to be the block PAT by Ziegelmeyer that won the game for the young Colonels!

I think although that was a huge turning point, the officials clearly blew that call. He was so far offsides that he didn't actually block the kick, the ball hit him in the back as the center snapped it. He was between the long snapper and the holder by the time the ball was snapped. It was as if the Ref's didn't even see it, as if they weren't even there.

 

Either way, I'm not gonna make excuses for Bye, but that one kind of stuck out to me.

Hahaha, lol....I didn't realize that, I just thought the announcers were arguing in the booth with the coaches when they kept calling out that name.

I talked to a Highlands fan that was at the game scouting and he said the game was never really in doubt for Cov Cath. And on a bright note Cov Cath set a season high converting on 5 consecutive PAT attempts.

Of course they didn't see it. The Ref's in the deep south wear blindfolds. The DSHSAA received to many complaints over the years about all the penalties and the long games. They made the change at the beginning of last season. There hasn't been a penalty in deep south in the past 1 1/2 seasons and the average game last 63 mins. Thought everyone knew that!

I heard they used tin cans with string and also heard bye tied a 3rd string to CCH's cans to intercept play calls.
