September 20, 201313 yr My guess is because they've determined that this wasn't a mass shooting(in the Aurora/Columbine sense) but rather a triple homicide? Purely speculation but given the location being a pawn shop, robbery gone wrong or payback doesn't sound too far fetched of a scenario for me. It would be different if the guy had gone to a grocery store and just started opening fire on anyone that walked in front of him. That's my thought, they wouldn't stay on lockdown once they determined there was no risk to the students.

September 20, 201313 yr Author I talked to the police myself just then. The suspect has not been caught but is no longer in Danville. There is apparently a search going on near Richmond.

Yea if they did that with every murder though we'd be living under Marshall Law half of the time. Great in theory, not realistic. I know it's different when it's in your own back yard and you've got little ones to worry about but they have to go back to normal at some point.

Pawn shops can be a great business and the owners can make a lot of money, but constantly having a lot of money and valuables on hand can make it very dangerous. An easy target to spot, not to mention that some of the folks that stroll in and out of them aren't your most upstanding citizens. Those poor kids, that's just awful. Hope this guy get's caught quick. Have they released any description or person of interest info? I would think the place had to have had cameras all over the place.
