Has anyone witnessed Johnson Central's kicker first hand?

The opportunities in high school are rare. Especially for a State Record. Pettrey took a delay of game to move the ball back when he broke the State Record, he wanted that record and getting the opportunity to kick a long one just doesn't happen much.

He'll get to the required distance and take a knee twice to make it happen.

I would venture to say you are correct.

The next question: will Matney report the state record to the state if he does break it? He doesn't report stats to the state, at all, and doesn't report them to any media outlet.

Don't you guys have a scoreboard to post 2000 times about or what a freshman player had for lunch yesterday?

LOL!

My man...

I am kind of pulling for Matney to beat Highlands this year. Just imagine how much more controversial he would be if suddenly he was posed as a threat.

I don't agree with what Matney does and it is not my style, but all in all I kind of enjoy that he does it. Certainly keeps it interesting.. he's the only coach I know who can make a blowout against a mediocre team suddenly become the talk of the entire State, when the lead up to it wasn't even resonating on a single person's radar. He certainly marches to the beat of his own drummer.

He's only a sophomore, it's not like the coach has to worry about getting it done this season like he did with Jude a few years back. It really should happen naturally IMO.

Wait! You said "my man"! I think I need to pm Clyde.

Here is where I predict Matney will bring in the controversy. He will have his QB drop back and take a 5 yard loss to set up the state record yardage and get the ball in the middle of the field for the kicker. It will probably be in a game they are winning by 6 TD's and he may do this 2, 3, or more times if that is what it takes before the kid makes one. Would that bother anyone?

If everyone on the team is on board, not at all, go for Coach.

They never have 4th down from the 20 to 40 yard line?

Best kicker I recall seeing in high school was the kicker from Middlesboro in 98 at the State Finals.

Not so far.
