Who wins the NL Central?

Featured Replies

With only a couple weeks left, who pulls out the tightest division in baseball. Pirates, Cardinals, or the Reds? Right now the Pirates and Cards are tied with the Reds 2.5 back. Reds still have 6 games left against the Pirates and that's it as far as inner division matchups.

I say the Pirates win the division then Cards are the 1st WC followed by the Reds.

Cardinals win the division.

Pirates the 1st WC.

This.

This.

Afraid that UKMustangFan is right on this one. Part of me wants to hope the Reds are setting their rotation up to have a big weekend in Pittsburgh but the realistic part believes this team doesn't want it badly enough. Reds= a nice bunch of guys that don't have the killer instinct.

Unfortunately I think the Cardinals win the division because the Reds and Pirates play so much in the new two weeks, they will in all likely hood cancel each other out. Funny thing about this division is the Pirates, Reds, and Cardinals have the same amount of home wins as well, just crazy. The series at Pittsuburgh will be the make or break for the 1st WC spot for the Reds and Pirates, the Reds need a must sweep against the Astros and a repeat of last night for the other two. Getting Cueto and Marshall back are huge for the Reds. The debacle Sunday kills the Reds chances. I do think that the NL central will represent the NL in the World Series whoever it may be.

I joke when I say the Reds, they just haven't been able to get over that hump. I credit them for fighting back, but all signs point to that WC game, unless the Nats have anything to say about that.

I think you've hit the big key...the Reds and Pirates still have to play each other 6 games. So, even if the home team takes 2 of the 3 in each series, you're right back to where you started from. That's why I think the edge has to go to the Cards.

However, if the Reds sweep the 'Stros...and the Pirates go 2-2 in their series with the Padres...that series in Pittsburgh could be very interesting.

Pirates win division

Cards, Reds, nationals all tie for WC spots. (I wanna see a mess)

Cardinals win the division.

Pirates the 1st WC.

Agree.

I like your thinking!!

Let's safely assume the Reds are going to be in the WC game.

What's more important for that game? Being the home team or having your ace available?
