BTW the schools do not pay for them anymore, Coaches have to pay $30.00 for the card. Schools are unable to purchase them for coaches anymore per the new Redbook Rules.

I understand your question, but you have no idea how much time I put in from October to June and I get paid NOTHING, I think a free pass to games is fair enough.

 

The time you put in coaching the kids (softball I assume) at NCC is admirable and if NCC wants to give you free addmission to their sporting events then I have no issues. However, I don't believe your investment in NCC's softball program should entitle you (much less you and a guest) to a free admission at a boys basketball game at Holmes or a football game at Highlands. I am open to hearing an argument, but I haven't heard it yet in this thread.

 

The line of people who are entitled to free admission is a long one.

I understand your point, all I can say, "it's a "perk" of the job". Just curious.......what do think about those that have "Lifetime" passes.......holders of this KHSAA coaches pass get into "way" more events including post season and tournaments for free.

Good grief Oldbird...I don't have a coaches pass but even I am getting a little flustered at why you think this is a big deal.

 

I don't coach KHSAA, however, I spend literally 100's of hours every year coaching basketball. I get no pay, and I actually spend sometimes thousands of dollars of my own money for the program to operate, and that does not include the time I have to take off work during the season. I am quite sure there are many KHSAA coaches out there that are in very similar circumstances, especially in the non-revenue producing sports, like soccer, softball, etc. If the guys/gals have a pass that gets them into athletic events for free, I say more power to them because it is a mere pittance compared to the time and effort many if not all of them put into their particular sport. And I am quite sure and would bet dollars to doughnuts that there are many coaches out there, probably the majority, that use their pass very little if at all compared to those who use it more frequently.

 

And, maybe the most important point of all...I saved $6.00 getting into the NCC/SK game Friday night by being a guest of Lawnboy13.:ylsuper: Of course I did drive 1 3/4 hours to get there to watch it, so it all equaled out for me in the end.

Booster Clubs can pay for them. The money can't come from the activities account through the school.

If you are asking the question about "lifetime passes" - then I suspect you know that there are way too many of those floating as around as well. There maybe a few people who should be entitled to such a perk (although I am not sure what the criteria would be), but it would be a very very small group of people in my opinion.

I don't mind paying $5, 6, 10 or whatever when it's going to a school; Heaven knows many of them need the extra revenue. I also participate in any split the pots and you can definitely find me at the concessions. But I also take advantage of Mr. lawildcat's officials pass when we attend games together. Why wouldn't I?! I pay enough money throughout the year to go watch him when he's working and I can guarantee I've paid out more than I've received overall.
