Very, very quiet. Where are the Trinity fans? The little public school from Cincy is taking on a Tri-State power and 2x as many people think the Cardinals will walk into Marshall stadium and hand the mighty Shamrocks their 3rd loss in 4 games?

What is there to say? For the third time this season, Trinity will come into the game as the underdog. I wouldn't spend too much time searching the rcord books if I were you. Not likely to need the record book from either side.

Trinity pulls out all the stops and beats Collerain (sp)? this Friday. 28 - 24. . .

There's a lot of smack talk on Yappi! I don't need to "run my mouth" about Trinity. The defense is growing up each week. The triple option is a nice attack. Trinity used it in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Now, it is an oddball offensive scheme. It has only paid off once for the Cardinals in a state title. Maybe, just maybe, Trinity will put the clamps on the 5'5" beast of a running back. Maybe not.

Colerain's male enrollment places them at 28 in Ohio. Why Ohio only uses 9,10, and 11 grade figures is a mystery to me. Anyway, Colerain has more boys than Moeller according to the OHSAA website. So, there is nothing little about Colerain in school size.

 

My Trinity "bible" is at home. I will get back to you regarding worst home field defeat. I do not like leaving questions unanswered. I doubt this will be part of the conversation after the game Friday.

I went and read the thread. As usual, the OH school is king and the KY school has no chance. But they are building in a few excuses in case they do lose. More comments about the refs bias than about the game.

I knew there was some life left on this board. As usual, I will tackle all comments one post at a time.

First off, Colerain NEVER gets their "lunch handed to them"...just doesn't happen. We lose games almost every year, but they are always close and could have gone either way.

 

Secondly, long way to go before a state title is "lost" by the Cardinals this year. And even if we don't bring home the ultimate prize, losing in Division I in Ohio is not nearly as upsetting for a school like Colerain as it would be an utter embarrassment for a school like Trinity to lose in KY.

Interesting how Colerain suddenly "became available" the year after Trinity's power run ended. Guess they fixed their phones?

That's a two way street big boy. Colerain never ducks anyone. We will play anyone, anywhere, anytime. The date probably became available because our GCL counterparts ran away from Trinity and our NKY game with Ryle wasn't renewed because they didn't feel like taking an annual beating anymore.

 

Either way, we replaced over half our team this year and you have a 4-Star QB. It surprises that Trinity's "power run" ever ends? I mean, don't they reload every year? Is this a rebuild season for the Rocks?

We have been notably warned from our friends at Moeller and St. Xavier about the home-cooking we can expect from the referees in the bluegrass. We won't worry about that until after the game, and only if we lose! :cry:

Does Colerain have a QB that can pass the ball this year? If so, that offense which is always very good, becomes flat out wicked. I've always been impressed by Colerain. Particularly the great speed in the O backfield and exceptional LBers on D year after year. I know you don't give Highlands much respect but I won't let that impact my assessment of Colerain. Great program.

We have been notably warned from our friends at Moeller and St. Xavier about the home-cooking we can expect from the referees in the bluegrass. We won't worry about that until after the game, and only if we lose! :cry:

I don't recall any unusual or untoward flags during the X games but I do remember a number of flags during the Moeller game in 2011. Just about all of them were deserved too, that Moeller team played like a pack of thugs. I am shocked there weren't more flags for late hits in that game. It made it even more satisfying when the 2011 squad demolished them that night.

 

As long as this Colerain team is disciplined then I see no reason why there would be any "questionable" calls.

Our QB can throw...but not nearly as well as last year's version. However, he is effective. On the year (2 games), he is 5/8 for 98 yards with 1 TD. Clearly, our directive is to run the ball. On the year, he leads our conference in Rushing with 323 yards, 6.5 avg, 4 TD.

 

We have very good LB's again this year and exceptional speed in the backfield. Look out for LB #8 Tegray Scales and #33 Aric Johnson. In the backfield is possibly the best player on the team, RB Detuan Smith-Moore. He is 5'5" 185lbs. He can leg press a Mack truck. It will take multiple defenders to get him down on the ground.

 

I don't know where people get the idea I don't respect Highlands. I do. I just don't like it when Highlands or their fans starts talking about them as being more than what they are. They cannot compete on a regular basis with the big schools in this region. Their winless record against Colerain and annual scrimmage beatdown by Trinity (since it's a game!..sarcasm) says as much. For who and what they are, they are one of the best run programs I have ever seen.

It was convenient. We were happy to sign a home and home with the Rocks and greatly look forward to welcoming them to Colerain next year. I hope it becomes an annual game for us. I mean, we will be the considerable underdogs in most games but we play that role well.

 

Just like Friday, we are coming off an emotional win over St. Xavier and traveling to the house of a team that is 1-2 and looking for a win in the worst way. I am hopeful we can provide the Rocks a solid contest and sincerely hope we can just keep it close.

Hmmm...Interesting comments.

 

The Triple is an "oddball offensive scheme?" I wonder if the likes of Seattle, Washington and San Francisco feel the same way about their QB's running the option in the NFL? It's not traditional, but it is effective. Like Novocain, it takes a couple of quarters to settle in but once it does, big things can happen.

 

Your sarcasm aimed at Detuan Smith-Moore is palpable. Just wait. You'll see. Or maybe you won't. It all depends on how the defense decides to play him. In week 1 he had 223 yards and 2 TD's. Last week, 25 yards and a TD. It's the beauty of the triple!

 

Please don't ever compare the makeup of Moeller's enrollment vs. Colerain's. Night and day different. Think Trinity vs. Male.

I will also ask this: Where can I get the YTD stats for the team? I am shocked that a school with the alumni and resources that Trinity has does not possess an athletics website with stats, schedules, photos, videos, etc. Especially since they have an official statistician. I have limited exposure to officials in Ohio, but I will tell you the officials at the Beechwood / Lima Senior game at UC were worse than any officiating crew I have ever seen in Kentucky. Remember, Beechwood won that game and had much less penalty yardage than Lima so I am not grinding any axes. That officiating crew was not good. My guess is you will get a top level crew and officiating bias will be a non factor in the game.
