I have limited exposure to officials in Ohio, but I will tell you the officials at the Beechwood / Lima Senior game at UC were worse than any officiating crew I have ever seen in Kentucky. Remember, Beechwood won that game and had much less penalty yardage than Lima so I am not grinding any axes. That officiating crew was not good. My guess is you will get a top level crew and officiating bias will be a non factor in the game.

My experience is, overall, the officials in Kentucky are head and shoulders better then the officials in Ohio. No bias, just what I have seen. Both states use the same rule book but it seems some rules are interpreted differently in Ohio versus Kentucky. Official mechanics, interpretations, consistency, and communication just seems to be better in Kentucky. Just my two cents.

I don't recall any unusual or untoward flags during the X games but I do remember a number of flags during the Moeller game in 2011. Just about all of them were deserved too, that Moeller team played like a pack of thugs. I am shocked there weren't more flags for late hits in that game. It made it even more satisfying when the 2011 squad demolished them that night.

 

As long as this Colerain team is disciplined then I see no reason why there would be any "questionable" calls.

I have a feeling that the Cards will try to use their power to "cram the ball down the throats of the Shamrocks". I know that the Cards will come to play and just hope the Cards can keep it close and remain in the game until the fourth quarter when as we all know "the fourth quarter is for keeps"

The Triple is an "oddball offensive scheme?" I wonder if the likes of Seattle, Washington and San Francisco feel the same way about their QB's running the option in the NFL? It's not traditional, but it is effective. Like Novocain, it takes a couple of quarters to settle in but once it does, big things can happen.

 

Your sarcasm aimed at Detuan Smith-Moore is palpable. Just wait. You'll see. Or maybe you won't. It all depends on how the defense decides to play him. In week 1 he had 223 yards and 2 TD's. Last week, 25 yards and a TD. It's the beauty of the triple!

 

Please don't ever compare the makeup of Moeller's enrollment vs. Colerain's. Night and day different. Think Trinity vs. Male.

I will also ask this: Where can I get the YTD stats for the team? I am shocked that a school with the alumni and resources that Trinity has does not possess an athletics website with stats, schedules, photos, videos, etc. Especially since they have an official statistician. Your help is appreciated.

 

OMG I was not comparing Moeller to Colerain other than number of male students. That's where the similarities end, other than they both play good high school football.

 

Triple option in the pros is a new gimmick. The defenses will address this and it will disappear in the NFL within a a couple or three seasons.

Navy is the one college team I know of that uses it.

 

As another Trinity supporter pointed out, the worst home defeat was the 10/23/1998 game with the Bombers. It was a 38-0 beatdown and the last time Trinity was shutout.

8. Merge onto I-264 W via EXIT 5 on the left toward Watterson Expressway. (go 2.85 miles)

9. Take the US-60/Shelbyville Road/I-64 exit, EXIT 20, toward St Matthews/Lexington/Louisville/Middletown. (go 0.31 miles)

10. Merge onto Shelbyville Rd/US-60-TRUCK W via EXIT 20B toward St Matthews. (go 1.87 miles)

Yes, I was aware. The gentleman who does this is also very busy at his day job. I saved the stats for Lawrence Central I found in MaxPreps....I think. Anyway, I will post them later.

Can we get a little football discussion going in this thread? There are clearly some very knowledgeable Trinity folks on here, I would love to hear your take on the following as we are about 31 hours from kickoff.

 

What are Trinity's strengths offensively? Defensively?

What are Trinity's weaknesses offensively? Defensively?

Who are the names to watch other than the QB? What about the SO linebacker Coach Bolden spoke of? And the RB?

What caused the offense to sputter last week?
