The Bengals, most talented blah blah blah.

Remember we are talking about talent level. WR's for 2005 were much better than the WR's this year. AJ is the only one on this years squad that would be starting on 2005's team. People may not like Chad (as I thought he was a huge cancer) but in 2005 he was the best in the league and no one can doubt that.

With that said, saying Dalton will have a better year this year than Palmer did in 2005, I hope you are right because if that is the case Dalton will be talked about as being one of the if not the best QB in the entire league as Carson was following the 2005 season.

Here are Carson's numbers for the 2005 season and if you think Dalton can do better then you have a lot more faith in Dalton as even FC does.

Carson Palmers 2005 stats

Compl % 67.8%

Passing Yards 3,836

TD's 32

QB Rating 101.1

Maybe in Cincy country, but from all I remember it was talk of trying to determine who the 3rd best QB in the league was. Manning and Brady had the 1, 2 distinctions. Palmer off that season was pushing for that #3 slot. Chad, the best WR in the league? Larry Fitzgerald had arrived by that time and was part of the best combo in the league with Boldin (not Chad and TJ). Steve Smith was a beast then. Marvin Harrison was also considered better than Chad. Unless we are talking fantasy football I have never heard anyone say Chad was the best WR in football.

Peyton Manning in 2005 had less passing yards and less TD's than Carson as well as a lower Compl %, which is why Carson was the #1 QB voted to the pro bowl that year, unfortunatley he couldn't play because of the injury in the playoff game. BTW, Brady also had less TD's and lower Compl % and lower QB Rating than Carson in 2005

BTW, Marvin Harrison and Fitzgerald had less receiving yards than Chad, Fitz had 1 more TD than Chad but Chad had more receptions than Harrison

Thus the reason he was being heralded as the #3 QB in the league.

Either way, Dalton isn't close to Carson was in 2005.

Palmer was good in 2005, but I think Dalton will be better over this season than Palmer was in '05. We'll see, though. I think Green is so much better than anyone on '05 it makes them better. Chad was one-dimensional, could only play the X spot, although he played it very well. Couldn't put him in motion to create space, like AJ can., Chad could only learn one spot and that was his undoing in New England. TJ was better than Jones or Sanu but could not stretch the field, Henry could stretch the field but was also one-dimensional,also I do not think Tate should be in the discussion, he only played 2 offensive plays Sunday. They have 3 receivers that can play all three wide receiver positions and that makes them a lot more versatile and more difficult to defend. We shall see, good for discussion in my mind, however, delirium on opinions is always a stretch to me. I don't think people are delirious on opinions usually, but whatever HB thinks on that is ok by me. I can carry on:popcorn:

Palmer was more than just good in 2005. I believe Palmer set a record or was was close to it because he had so many games with a better than 100% passer rating and I believe finished about a 100% passer rating for the season I believe. Palmer was unbelievable that year and not just good. Now as Hellbird said if Dalton does play as well as Palmer did that year, then we are definitely looking at a special year this year. However if Dalton can just at least make big improvements and have a good year and not just better than average like this first two years, then the team still would have a chance to make a run. We need Dalton to be good this year and that is probably the most realistic, however if he can somehow do as great as Palmer did that year, than that would be amazing. However it will take a lot to do that.

Agreed. It is an absurd thought that Dalton will be a top 3 or 4 QB in the league this year which CP was in 05. I hope I'm wrong about this though.

Hey me you and Hellbird are all actually in agreement on the same thing! Haha

Bungals are back lol. Most talented must mean the most overrated. Yet Marvin keeps his job. Lol

The Bengals had 4 turnovers against one of the top teams in the league today, and yet still won. Hmmm I think that does say something about the talent. I am so glad you decided to make this post before the game was over haha. It takes a talented team to be able to overcome 4 turnovers, because you have to be talented enough to make plays to make up for it and they did that!

Says something about the talent on the defense which is why we won, the offense didn't help us.

The offense did have three long drives for touchdowns. Two of them being in the second half once they were down 16 points, so the offense did have to do something to help get the win. Now the offense definitely sucked in the 1st half and the defense bailed them out time and time again. However bad teams don't overcome those things, bad teams drop their heads, but even the offense kept going after it and eventually pulled it together.

Bad/average teams don't win against top teams when you turnover the ball 4 times. Good teams with talent find ways to win still and to make plays to overcome those mistakes and that happened today. Now they can't keep doing that or else it will cost them. However today's game does show the talent on this team and how it is a good team. Doesn't mean there aren't things to fix though. However once again its ok to not complain man and just be happy. We all know there are things to fix, but for now be happy. Finally be a top team like people wanted, and didn't even take their best game to do that. I know it goes against your whole talent argument, but I would think you would be happy being wrong about that and enjoy the victory.

Trust me, I'm very happy. The win actually made this a great day.

Good to hear! Just next time you might not want to jump the gun with the complaining on things, before its even over. :D

It really doesnt matter if it was over or not. I was driving to Kenwood Towne Center, parked the car and the Bengals were up 14-0...me=very happy.

Go to the Apple Store and wait for an hour, check the score and we are down 30-14.

What would you think? you'd think the same thing I thought....The Bungals are back.

Which is exactly why you got the response that you got from me, since you also added in the whole Bengals most talented my arse. Referencing something we had many discussions about. Which its probably a good thing you didn't get to see the 4 straight turnovers, because I even admit it was pathetic to see. However we have to learn that this really isn't the same old Bengals teams, old Bengal teams would have never been able to overcome such mistakes.
