The Bengals, most talented blah blah blah.

Not even close to the talent we had in 2005

The only area we are much better than the 2005 team is the D-line.

I have read all the posts recently between you and coach on this and I understand both your and FC's opinions. I think this team has more talent. They may not get the same results, though. It's early.

Well as I've said in the past about this subject, I go by what I see and don't depend on what others say. I don't see the most talented team the Bengals have had in a long time. I see some of the best players we've had on the D-Line minus Peko who is a waste of space, but other than that I don't see the best talent. The LB's minus Burfict are avg at best, the secondary is horrible. On Offense we have AJ Green, the rest aren't the most talented we've had in a long time.

You can keep cherry picking comments here and there but it apparently shows I know more than the guys you are listening to because last I checked I have been right on the money.

Then what is the most talented Bengals team in recent times? Don't get caught up with a couple of athletically capable guys in high profile positions a few years ago and dismiss the quality across the board.

This team has talent. No doubt, but nowhere near the most talent since Boomer's days.

I will give this team the best talent in 1 area, the D-Line. but I will give the best talent in the following areas to the 2005 team

LB's

DB's

O-Line

QB

RB's

WR's

Kicking (remember our kicker in 2005 went to the pro bowl and was the best kicker in the AFC that year)

I posted this before and also posted it in response to BM's post

But I will break it down even more

D-Line the 2013 team is the best since the 80's

2005 better talent by position.

WR's Chad, TJ, Chris Henry best wr corp since the 80's, head and shoulders above this years. AJ is the only WR this year that could compete with the best in 2005 (Chad) Plus remember we also had Kevin Walter who was better than even our #2 receiver this year and he was our 4th wr then.

RB's Rudi Johnson, Cris Perry (the only year he was healthy and had a monster year for us) Kenny Watson and the best FB in football that year Jeremy Johnson (then he went and lived at McDonalds after the season and gained 1,000 pounds lol)

O-Line the best in football in 2005. Willie Anderson, Levi Jones, Eric Steinbach, Bobbie Williams, Rich Braham, not one current O-Lineman could beat his man out on the 2005 team

CB's Tory James and Pro Bowler Deltha Oneal. Both had more than double the int's than any of our CB's on this years team had last year.

Special Teams - Shayne Grahm, pro bowl kicker that year and the best in the AFC that year.

Safeties, I give it a push between the 2013 and 2005, although I loved Madieu williams, he was hurt most of the year.

QB Carson Palmer, Palmer was the best in the league that year and Dalton isn't close.

And once again you keep ignoring the fact that it does not just include just starters when talking about a team. There is a reason people say the bengals roster has the most talent top to bottom in the NFL, and that is because of depth too. The 2005 team did have talent as the starters, but nothing behind them. Your secondary was great at intereptions but obviously sucked besides that which is why they ranked 27th against the pass. The safeties on that team were even weaker than the safeties on this years team. Madieu Williams played two games that year, they picked up a guy who ended up starting safety who never played another down in his life after that season. So keep being wrong and ignoring the fact that people keep saying this is the most talented Bengals TEAM since the 80's. If people were saying this is the most talented starters since the 80's then you argument would be a little valid, however I from the very beginning and national people with no bias at all even say this is the most talented Bengals team and probably the most talented team in the NFL top to bottom. No one said that in 2005 about the team. It was just talked about as an explosive offense which was true.

Once again only listing basically starters, and ignoring what people are saying. People are saying the most talented TEAM not starters. Do you not understand that a team is not just the starters. Its exactly the reason why the 2006 team didn't do as well, because once those injuries and suspensions happened to their starters they had no real replacements for them. People say this is the most talented team because of the talent on the WHOLE TEAM. Doesn't mean there is not holes, however most NFL teams have holes to fix. However from top to bottom it is very talented. Its just about putting it all together, which comes down to the coaches which is a different story.

I'm looking at the links you supplied and will comment on each one.

The first one you supplied

NFL Expert Picks: Bandwagon filling up but can Bengals win it all? - CBSSports.com

says nothing about the most talented team....the word talent doesn't even come up nor do they even talk about the players.

The second link

2013 NFL predictions: Bengals, Patriots, Broncos to rise in AFC - NFL.com

has 2 out of 11 analyst say anything about them being the most talented team.....yet they were talking about who would win our division, 1 said most talent in the division in a division that is horrible this year isn't saying much.

The third link

NFL predictions 2013 -- Super Bowl XLVIII, awards, New England Patriots - NFL - SI.com

also doesn't mention anything about being the most talented

out of 7 analyst picking the season player awards only 2 Bengal players were mentioned out of 35 picks. They were also picking the SB winner and not 1 picked the Bengals to win.

Your 4th link

2013 NFL Predictions: Super Bowl, MVP & more | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia

said absolutely nothing about The Bengals talent. Not only that, but they didn't even pick the Bengals to go to the SB and all the awards they predicted not one went to a Bengal.

The last link you provided was from the Bengals web site lol....not even going to go into that except that a couple predictions just for the game against the Bears they had the Bears winning.

So in conlcusion when you try and show us proof of what you are saying about the Bengals being the most talented team the bengals ever had or in the league this year, you may actually give us links where they actually say what you said they say. Out of all the links there is only 1 link where anyone says the bengals are the most talented, and that was just a couple people in the article out of 7 lol.

Good try FC, but you are not only wrong, but the links you supplied to support your case didn't prove anything but people predict the Bengals to win a very VERY poor division this year.

Oh, BTW, you also said in these links it had people predicting the Bengals to win the SB. There was only 1 link that had anyone predicting the Bengals to win the SB, and that article had 7 analyst predicting and only 1 out of 7 had the Bengals. So how is that so? If the Bengals are the most talented team in the entire league, how in the world would only 1 guy out of all of them pick the Bengals to win?

I think what has happened with you when it comes to this years team is you have got The Bengals Flu. That is the flu that if anyone even mentions the Bengals and the SB or the word Talent in the same sentence you become delirious and automatically convince yourself that they are the best and everyone loves them because it's been so long since the word Bengals and Super Bowl have ever shown up together in the same sentence. Don't worry, the Dr is in, all you need to do is watch the re-run of yesterdays game, take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning.

Look at what I said again in that post. I said I have listed links that either have people picking the Bengals to the Super Bowl or talking about them and how much talent they have. Which you might want to look at that NBC link again, because it does have one person picking them to the Super Bowl. Did I ever say the Bengals were the majority pick to win the Super Bowl? Nope but I did say that there were NFL experts with no bias at all who were, and guys talking about them being the most talented team. Which is also why Chris Mortenson from ESPN had the Bengals ranked #1 in the AFC to start the year. However teams like the Broncos is the majority pick from the NFL and rightfully so. They have lots of talent too, and obviously a hall of fame QB. While me and everyone else admit Dalton is the question mark to this team. So those links back up exactly what I been saying.I been saying people have been talking about the Bengals going to the Super Bowl, I proved that. I said people talked about the Bengals being one of if not the most talented teams in the league proved that. Your argument is I say these things because I look through orange shaded glasses. Well those people have no bias at all and think the same. Then even last night Stuart Scott as I mentioned talked about how many national experts have predicted the Bengals as a team who could go to the Super Bowl this year. So I mean if you want to continue acting like its just me go ahead, I mean you are good at that.

Does this years te have depth? Heck yes. But when you continually say this

Team has the most talent in the NFL you are so

Wrong.

You have to talk about starters FCC. They are the ones playing on Sundays not the 3rd stringer. I find it funny you backpedal now once you realize the talent on the field in 2005 was head and shoulders above this years team. Of course I'm talking about the players

That actually play in games. They are the ones getting you wins. Duh.

So after one game you are saying how this shows you are right? Wow man! I mean even though most people on here have disagreed with me on the Bengals the last few seasons. They could even admit I have been more right about the bengals over the last two seasons than anyone on this board. So you enjoy your one game of being right, when what I have said has happened for the last two seasons. Nice try bud.

Actually I

Was right when

I said

They would lose in the first ge of

The playoffs the last 2 years as well as the talent aspect.

Please tell me where I have backpedaled? Go back and look at the other threads where we have had this discussion. I clearly have said even in those threads that that 2005 team had lots of talent for the starters. However also look at what I kept trying to remind of you of each time that you kept ignoring. I from the very beginning have said the most talented TEAM, which I used all caps basically every time in those threads too since you have a hard time with that concept too. I mean these national experts also have been saying that, and never once heard that about the 2005 team. The 2005 team was one of the most explosive offenses is what the talk was, not about most talented TEAM. Its a very simple concept man, and not one that as hard to understand as you are making it. Which you are right starters are the ones playing, which is why even in previous threads. I have even said that I could buy the theory that you liked the 2005 teams chances to make it further, that is fine because they had that explosive offense and opptonistic defense that is fine. However I was not talking about which team had a better chance to go further, I simply said this is the most talented TEAM key word once again being TEAM since the super bowl teams which is true. So how exactly is this backpedaling when I have said the exact same things in the other threads? You simply have not got it from the beginning man. I will always love the 2005 team and that team possibly could have made a run that year if Palmer didn't get hurt. High scoring offense with an opptonistic defense can be a recipe for a run in the playoffs. However overall talent from top to bottom is not as good as this years squad and I have said that many times and I have no idea how you can continue to say other wise. If you want to say the 2005 had a better chance to make a run that is fine, but that is not what the topic was about man, I been trying to tell you that for awhile now.

FC maybe you should change your statement to say the bengals have among the most depth this year. I could stomach that a little better than saying they ate the

Most talented team in the NFL.

Actually I

Was right when

I said

They would lose in the first ge of

The playoffs the last 2 years as well as the talent aspect.

And was I wrong when I was the only one who at least posted on here from the beginning of the last two seasons that talked about how the team was built to go to the playoffs. Even though people two years ago thought they be lucky to win a game, and then last year it was they won't make it because they play better QB's. Then in the playoff game you never heard me once say they would beat Houston. I said now that they in anything is possible. I knew that they would have a hard time, but the key was at least getting in. So you were right in the playoffs, but I was never wrong becuase I never predicted anything on that game. So as I said I have been more right on this team than anyone on this site for the last two years, which I think others would even admit. Will I be right on the team this year? We will see, however my track record on this team has been much better than most the last two years.

FC maybe you should change your statement to say the bengals have among the most depth this year. I could stomach that a little better than saying they ate the

Most talented team in the NFL.

No need to change it because they are the most or at least one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Why would I let someone who clearly has a bias the other way change my mind? Especially when NFL experts with no bias either way also talk about how they are the most or one of the most talented teams in the league. I know its hard to believe, but the Bengals have put together one of the most talented teams. It just comes down to Dalton and the coaching. Dalton overall didn't do to bad yesterday, but the coaching left a lot to be desired. However the talent on the team is very obvious from top to bottom and others with no bias even see that.

You mean all those experts you have links to which said nothing of the sort most of the time?

You do realize you can have depth at positions so you can toss someone in if injury happens doesn't mean they are great or even good

Players don't you?

Take our LBs for instance. They aren't very good yet they are deep at that position which means you replace crap with more crap. Our safeties is another position. Do we have depth there? Yep, are they any good? No. Or how about our O-line. Same thing there.

Depth is one thing but it doesn't mean they are good and unlike you I don't need someone else to tell me what I can see with my own 2 eyes unlike you who needs Jim bream from south city recorder to mention in an obscure piece.
