September 3, 201313 yr Anybody notice the one football player that got blindsided as the coaches fight?
September 3, 201313 yr Then you can't say fire the head coach for standing his ground. No stand your ground law to keep you from getting fired. Had GZ shot Trayvon at work I'd say fire his butt.
September 3, 201313 yr From the various sites I read earlier, there is a strong history of dislike between these 2 programs. So much so, that the coaches agreed "prior" to the game that they would not shake hands after the game in order to avoid and ugly incident. During the game, the losing team had an official's mistake go against them. Late in the game the winning team had the ball and faced what should have been 4th and 9 but the box on the field said 3rd down. The officials did not correct the mistake. On the ensuing play the gain was 6 yards and short of a First Down. Ball should have been turned over on downs but because of the box man, it was now 4th and 3. Winning team makes the First Down and goes on to score with :18 left from six yards out to win the game. If both squads knew this game had possible problems, why go over and say anything to the other side afterwards? It baits a response. The HC of the losing team should have turned his back and concerned himself only with his kids. His anger of the officials mistake was too much I guess. Either way, I hold them both responsible. My Father always said, "it takes two to fight".
September 4, 201313 yr Yeah. I remember when I used to get riled up about high school football.......When I was in high school... Still think this is the best summary of the whole thing.
September 4, 201313 yr No stand your ground law to keep you from getting fired. Had GZ shot Trayvon at work I'd say fire his butt. Ha. I just knew I won that round. Nice one.
September 5, 201313 yr IMO the DC was the instigator. He wasn't coming over to say "good game." Bad blood between these two schools. Apparently they agreed before the game to not have a post-game handshake. Then don't play the game. That's my simple math on the thing. If it was required by the state, district game, etc., then obviously everyone needs to understand what "no handshake rule" means. Both guys are morons. One moron saw a fight coming and didn't keep walking. The other moron, thought they were just going to talk about it. Neither gets a pass from me. If you are too dumb to understand what no handshake means, then you deserve to get hit. If you are so dumb that you can't just continue to walk your way then it's your fault too.
September 5, 201313 yr I can't believe the administrator's from the schools didn't proactively handle this situation when they agreed to the "no handshake". Unless, of course, they didn't know.
September 6, 201313 yr Author Walker High has been banned from the playoffs. DC for Cullman has been suspended for the season.
September 6, 201313 yr Walker High has been banned from the playoffs. DC for Cullman has been suspended for the season. Really? Why ban the school? That makes no sense to me.
September 6, 201313 yr Really? Why ban the school? That makes no sense to me. Co-sign. The players didn't bullrush a coach from the other team. Heck, one of them got absolutely blasted for doing nothing but stand there.
September 6, 201313 yr Really? Why ban the school? That makes no sense to me. Sounds like the governing body basically said something along these lines to the student-athletes: "Kids, this may not be fair to you, but, well... your coach, he's what we call an idiot. He acted with the maturity we'd expect from people your age or below, and he was your coach, so you should be punished too. Sorry about your season".
September 6, 201313 yr Author Co-sign. The players didn't bullrush a coach from the other team. Heck, one of them got absolutely blasted for doing nothing but stand there. School was already on probation for an incident last season. Walker was also told that if they bring the head coach back next year they will be banned from the post-season again.
