South Laurel rumor mill

Featured Replies

I am fairly sure that this is purely rumor with no truth to it. Spoke to a very reliable source today that said this. Steve Wright and the entire SL ball club from the players down to the water boys are the epitomy of the word CLASS. I dont see this happening.

I can't see this happening, I don't think Coach Wright is that type of coach. I see South winning by 30 to 40 points, mainly because they will pull the starters after the first quarter, kinda like what they did to Whitley.

South will show no mercy.............but only for one quarter. Coach Wright has more class than to show up the Williamsburg kids, especially since it is not their fault. My guess is that South Laurel is actually glad that they did not have to play Williamsburg, it basically would have meant two less games for the varsity to play.

It will still get ugly since you cannot expect the South Laurel subs not to play hard and Williamsburg will still be badly overmatched. South will win by 50+.

South's starting five will all get double figures in points and then they will be pulled once they do. I'm guessing some where in the 4 minutes in the game. South is a great program and I cant see them showing little class and beating w'burg like they actually could.

In all honestly baring 2 huge upsets, it's going to be Corbin and South Laurel in the championship game. For one, Coach Wright is a classy guy and will not punish the kids of Williamsburg for the actions of Coach Haynes. Second of all, Coach Wright will know that they will get a hard fight against Corbin in what should be the championship game. There is no denying South is the better team but Coach Wright and the Cardinals know Corbin is not intimidated anymore. Yes South won by 17 but it was a 3-7 point game until the final 3 minutes in the last game at Corbin. He will rest them and have them focused for a battle and a rowdy crowd.

South Laurel has much bigger fish to fry than teaching Williamsburg a lesson. If Wright chose to do it (and I'm willing to guarantee he won't), his reputation and that of the program would take some serious hits ... and justifiably so.

I dont think they will either ....just what I heard. When is the 1st game of the dictrict? Is it the very next weekend after the last reg. season games? :ylsuper:

I would beat them by as many as I could. Maybe I have "no class" but to me it shows much less class by not showing up during the regular season. If south played them at home not only did they not get to play the gamne and get the win but they also lost some money from the door and the concessions. (not to mention having their fans drive to the game only to find it was cancled) Couch Write will probably pull his starters after the first half however I think i would beat them by 110.

I noticed that South cancelled their visit to LexCath this year. Anybody know why?

The reason South had to cancel LC was because of to many games.Thats when LC picked up Clay co. friday.

Shouldn't South Laurel have realized this way before now? They only played one game in the LIT ... nothing they've done this season should have put them over the limit if they had been under it in the first place.

As I recall, the Clay County game was on the LexCath schedule at the beginning of the year. I don't think it was a recent addition.

How do you schedule too many games in basketball? I know you over-schedule in baseball to account for rainouts, but you don't have many cancellations in basketball.

Was Lexington Catholic on South Laurel's schedule at the start of the season? If so, the Cardinals weren't under the limit.

I'm assuming knightsdad is saying that the decision was made in the offseason. If so, it makes sense .. the Cardinals played in the LIT and were invited to play in a couple of big-time events, which meant that someone on the schedule had to go.
