Reds @ Giants 7/22 - 7/24

At season's start it would have been Cueto, Latos, Bailey, Arroyo, Leake. Every discussion we had on this board talked about Leake as the 5th starter. Frankly, Cingrani has to be in the top 5 if we are talking now.

This.

I also believe that everyone was talking about how Homer had elevated his game at the end of last year and deserved to be the #3, and that Arroyo was much better as the #4.

Dude have you been getting into my medicine cabinet??

Which of those pitchers has Bailey been better than this season?

I will say that Bailey drives me nuts. But his last outing was on Dusty. 100% on the manager. In my best Herman Edwards voice "You play to win the game".

I agree. I'm just saying if you just look at it from a numbers perspective, Bailey has been the weakest link of the 4 (Arroyo, Bailey, Latos, & Leake).

I agree. I'm all for shopping him. The no-no was a great bargaining chip.

Choo 8, Heisey 7, Votto 3, Phillips 4, Bruce 9, Frazier 5, Cozart 6, Mesoraco 2, Cingrani LHP

I see another big night for Reds hitters. Surkamp is not very good.

On Homer, here is the thing - his best is yet to come. He has improved every year. His WHIP has decreased. His ERA has dropped. More innings. More strikeouts. He has some work to do the rest of the season to continue that trend of improvement. For most, it takes time to develop into a top tier pitcher. Bailey is only 27. The tough thing now with him is economics are affecting whether you roll on with him. If the contract wasn't a concern, no doubt you keep moving forward with him. I believe the Reds control him for one more year, although he will be arbitration eligible again. If he doesn't make a big jump ahead the rest of the season, if I am the Reds I look to sign him this off season to a 3 year deal so I control him and his cost for 3 more years.

^Maybe so, but at some point, you are what you are. Latos, Leake, and Cueto are all as young and better. Cingrani has a lot of potential to be every bit as good, if not better as well.

Raise your hand if you think UKMF should go to be early again tonight!

He was griping about how awful the Reds were and went to bed (according to Twitter) before Frazier 3 RBI in the first inning. I say he goes to bed early again!

Same refrain, season after season.

Walks the first batter. Perfect.

Cingrani on schedule for a 30 pitch inning. He needs a GPS to find the dish.

Wow. Now he gets pinched on the first pitch to Posey.

Lucky with the laser freakin beam to Frazier there from Posey. Just a fluke.
