July 19, 201313 yr I have the spay and neuter plates. The donation goes to support spay and neuter of stray animals, especially cats, which is the key to reducing the population.
July 19, 201313 yr Basic on both vehicles. I like several of the vanity plates and had a UK plate for several years. Some, however, just don't look right on certain cars. For instance my wife's aunt has a pink breast cancer plate on a blue car. Every time I see it I don't think "great cause" but rather think "nice car now ugly!"
July 19, 201313 yr I have the In God We Trust plate, Mrs Vito has the Law Enforcement Memorial Plate on her ride and Lil Veto has the Coal plate on hers.
July 19, 201313 yr We had a thread on this awhile back. Slippery slope. Government shouldn't be in the God business. Since it is our National Motto and on nearly all forms of currency, I don't see any issue with In God We Trust being on a license plate. The cost is the same as the Unbridled plate so it's not like it is being used to raise money for any religious group.

I got the UL plate because I have a blue car. Had to set the record straight to people who might make certain assumptions about because of the color of my car.

Religion is in our lives in so many ways and it needs to stop. By all means, go to any church you want and express your individual beliefs anyway you like but our government needs to stay out of it. I am sure this will all end up in litigation in the future again and again until all the religious references are removed from anything "government." I understand on the cost vs. the Unbridled plate but at the end of the day it is still a government, tax funded endorsement of God. WAY our of line!

I get what your saying but I don't think all of those plates that are available would fit as a governmental endorsement for their cause. Masonic, Choose Life, Duck Unlimited, Friends of Coal even the Ryder Cup all have plates available and there are plenty of people in KY and on BGP that would not support the state making those plates available if it was seen as a State Endorsement of their Group/Cause/Belief.
July 20, 201313 yr I'm confused is the government taking a loss on the plates ? If the citizen purchasing the plate covers all cost then no tax payer money is funding the plate. It is an optional upgrade not a standard tax.

I am not talking about specialty plates, I am talking about the In God We Trust Sticker or whatever it is on KY plates.
