I didn't go to merriam-webster to look it up. If you want to call it amnesty, sure, whatever, be my guest. But if you're going to call it that, be sure to differentiate the types of amnesty being proposed by different legislators. They're not the same.

American industry and technological development has been where it is for the last century because the most brilliant minds from all over the world came here to conduct research and do their work. Expanding STEM visas is a first step toward making sure we don't lose that. I agree 100%. I also think our economy wouldn't last were it not for the millions of undocumented workers who work for low wages. They are a very important part of our economy that keeps prices low -- especially food. I don't want them to be deported but don't want them to gain legal status at the moment. We offer too many entitlement programs that are means tested and many of those immigrants, due to what they work for, would get them. It would be very costly.

July 12, 201313 yr These comments being made as a talk show host and many years ago helps. The outlandishness of those comments hurts. At the very least, Paul's staff should have thoroughly investigated these statements and his background knowing that this information would become public. There should have been a prepared statement ready by Paul's staff that explained their vetting process and why they think these comments are no part of who Hunter is today. Did Paul's staff take those steps?

That stuff was less than 10 years old, and I highly doubt he has abandoned any of those positions. He may have softened them a bit for public consumption in recent years, but behind closed doors he and Jim Bob Joe Jack and the rest of his buddies are speaking a much harsher language. I'm sorry, but this guy is a scumbag bigot, or he simply plays one on the Internet and talk radio. If Paul is to be taken seriously, he does not need people like this anywhere near him. Having a guy like this on staff basically screams "Blacks and Hispanics not welcome!"
