A United States Senator employs a guy who actively supported the dissolution of the union and wrote that a non-white America would "cease to be America"? No problem with that whatsoever?

 

Also, it was less about supporting secession and more about fighting for the states to have that right. Like I said, read his articles, do research on the man -- quit reading what MSM news outlets are calling him.

I love this crackpot stuff. It's kind of become the Southern narrative with some of them, a way of glorifying the Old South while whitewashing slavery's scar from the text. Can't have it both ways, folks. Secession happened so the southern states could preserve an economic institution built on the backs of free labor. Any of this other stuff is just window dressing.

Obama had other things on his side to counteract the negative influences of those guys, most notably weak opposition. Paul may not be so fortunate, given his and his father's tendency to draw in the crackpots at a far larger scale than Obama. Especially against a campaign machine as ruthless as the Clintons'.

That may of been the case for secession, but I can easily make the case it was too strong of a federal government that allowed slavery to exist in the first place.

 

You cannot however equate advocating a states right to secession with being pro-slavery or racism. Can I or should I equate being pro-big government with being racist? No.
