The Free Beacon, a surrogate of the Weekly Standard "broke" the story. Weekly Standard lead by Foreign Policy Hawk and out-liner of the Bush foreign policy is heavily against Rand Paul. The Free Beacon is ran by his son-in-law.

 

It should say something about you as a politician and where you stand ideologically when the both sides are attacking -- most likely you're doing something right.

If you criticize one, I would assume I'd find your criticisms of Obama's associations with them if I pulled up those threads. However, I'm fairly confident I'd find you defending him tooth and nail.

 

I am curious. Pull them up and see what you find. I don't recall defending Obama's associations with those two. I may have questioned the accuracy of those attacking those associations, but I don't think I ever defended Obama associating with those two.

All this means is both the left and the John McCain types of the Republican party are really, really scared of Rand.

Hunter did say those things. But its taken way out of context. He was a young 20 something year old shock jock trying to make it in radio. It's a stupid statement and he's admitted he's embarrassed about it.

 

It isn't like Rand Paul saw this and immediately wanted him on his side. He's made a name for himself because he has made a tradition of standing up for civil liberties, privacy rights, property rights, low government, etc.

 

Don't read into the hype. It's just the latest gimmick of many more to come by the left and moderate republicans to derail Rand Paul.

So he has backed away from those statements? I said stuff 20 years ago that I would be embarrassed about to. Even though I know most BGPers have never said a hurtful, racist, bigoted, chauvinistic or elitist remark in their lives that they now regret.

 

I'll continue to watch what this guy says going forward and determine what I think of him from his current actions.
