Don't know, but for the last two years they have lived close to the high school. I have made many deliveries to their house, and had a few conversations with his dad.

 

I believe it was his sophomore year that they moved to that area.

Didn't read through the entire thread...did anyone mention Chane Behanan to Bowling Green? Might be one of the biggest to come through the state in a long time.

 

Name wise yes, but BG never made it out of the region with him on the team, NEVER.

South Laurel almost certainly would not have won their title without the transfer of Eric Fields.

 

Interesting side notes about that move:

Fields switched to SL because of a lack of playing time at NL, which was having a massive foreign affair at that time. They had three of them in 2002-03, then the best of them the next year in Daniel Dillon in 03/04, who played at Arizona. The following year SL won state. Fields was originally from Clay County.

Antonio Campbell - Covington Holy Cross. Definitely a player that had a big impact on the Holy Cross program for the past couple years.

But having said that. Not that it's my favorite HS program but I was there as the PA announcer at the time, when Cov. Holy Cross got Joe Harney, he is way up there for that school/team.

 

He started there as a freshman so like Clyde said it depends on what definition we are using. In that same time frame though was Jason Williams there as a frosh or did he come in as a sophomore? I honestly don't remember. Andre Mclendon might have started off at Holmes too, but I can't remember that info either.

Technically Josh Carrier would qualify under the circumstances put forth in this thread. He played varsity his 8th grade year at Warren Central before moving to BG. He too never won a region, but he was part of an era that re-established BG as a region power and a key part of their greatest regular season ever, an undefeated 27-0 run until region his sophomore year.

 

Chane was certainly big. We'll never know how far BG would have gone without him, but it is worth noting that they won the year before he got there and the year after he left, never in between.

Very true but let's not act like those weren't two spectacular Warren Central teams that defeated Behanan's Purples in the region finals. It took a last second Hail Mary banked 3 pointer from state finalist Ballard to defeat one of those Warren Central teams and wasn't the other Warren Central team a state semi finalist? Correct me if I am wrong. I also recall the region final games between Central/BG being the fourth time the teams had met each year AND that the region final games were battles to the very end.

 

It's hard for me to count inter-city transfers in Bowling Green but I guess Carrier does count. Both schools have kids that live out of district attending the wrong schools don't they?

I don't think they win either without him, obviously, because Fant would have run wild on BG. But I would not have been overly surprised if they had made the region finals each year anyway, especially 2011.

 

Both teams for sure get their share of transfers from other schools. But most don't have varsity experience before they land there. They tend to move in that middle school gray area.

Willard was a starter as a junior in 91-92 and as a senior in 92-93. I believe he arrived in BG his junior year.

 

I'm fairly certain no one transferred in to BG in 90 or 91 or before they won region those two years.

I remember the good old days when HC competed for regional titles rather than hoping to do well in the All A. Hopefully it gets back to that.

Phillip Roberts at Scott brought more athleticism to an already athletic team. Gave them a 2nd big man over 6'6". Huge impact. Most of all he was fun to watch. Start this video at the 1 minute mark to see Phil receive and finish a nice alley oop.[video=youtube_share;M7c5Z1TJtO4]

 

Keylo Jones was also a transfer into Scott and was probably a more impactful player than Roberts. Jones played on the frontline with O'Conner & Niederegger on a very athletic Scott team.
