No, anyone who follows the Pats knows that's not how they operate.

Exactly.

If by keeping him on the roster for a 4th year, it allows Tebow to collect a pension, then yes I could see Belichek doing this as a favor to Urban (who certainly has loyalty and gratitude to Tebow). I would consider this an investment in their mutually beneficial relationship.

I also wonder how much information sharing there is in the NFL regarding ex-teams. They may extract enough intel from Tebow prior to the first cuts. Bill has certainly gone to greater lengths to get a good scouting report on his opponents.

Tale of the Tape - an older picture, but could still apply! :lol2:

Exactly.

What does any of us really know about how the Pat's operate;-)?. This item has been reported on by several sources close to the Patriots, and the fact the Bill used to regularly visit Gainesville along with the well known close relationship that Meyer and Belichik have, make me believe that their might be a shred of truth to the statement that this was a move done at least partially as a favor. Again, if he doesn't make the team, it really costs the Patriots nothing.

Schefter said today that the story of Bill B not being a fan is incorrect. Says TT could allow them to trade Mallet and then have 2 years to find a Brady replacement.

There's a reason the Pats, Niners etc load up in the draft. Move like them gives them a chance to develope him as insurance meaning they could move him or Mallett down the road. Remember how great Matt Castle was because the Pats developed him? Yeh that deal worked out pretty nice for the Pats. I don't like NE but I sure do respect them!!

New England was gonna draft him in round 2. Hes a great locker room guy, could possibly play H back and allows them to deal Mallet. Oh and there's no guaranteed money.

While we know he won't be starting at QB, he will see considerably more PT than he did in last years debacle with the Jets. Bellichek will know how to utilize Tebow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Pats utilize Tebow. Should be fun to watch. I like rooting for the kid, not sure why people hate on him so much. He's good people.
