Who cares if he threw 4, 6 or 8 INT's, it's an all star game and not to be taken seriously. I am sure the men were out there having fun and enjoying themselves. I can't imagine Blake lost a lot of sleep last night about losing or throwing INT's.

 

I bet he (and Dayton) are thrilled he didn't get hurt, which was the ultimate goal coming out of the game.

So true. It's an allstar game and for anyone to say someone shouldn't play because they already committed to play in college is silly. It's just for fun and no one thinks less if a player based on his performance in this game.

 

You are also correct about Nussbaum. He scored once. On the play before he scored he didn't get in so they gave him the ball again and he got in.

I think you are right. If you are a fan, you have to go into the stadium not expecting to see good football or anything close to it. IF you do such, the game can be okay to watch. Weather was very nice. Anyone know how the ref who got hurt is doing? Hope he's okay.

But as for the 9 INTs thrown by the East side, you have to realize they practiced Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Three days was all the practice they had as a unit to get ready. I'm sure they weren't on the same page at all times. The game isn't about winners/losers (no official stats are even kept) but about giving the kids another chance to get on the field.

You either give credit where it is due or criticize the ones who are at fault. Possibly three days werent enough to put kids in the best position to win but 9 interceptions? There were balls underthrown all night and he obviously was more interested in throwing it vs. throwing it away. I know Bir is a great QB, it just wasn't his night.

It was an All Star game. No need to 'thow it away' in an All Star game. You go, have fun and whatever happens happens.

 

I've gone to a few HS All Star games over the past couple years (baseball, volleyball, etc.) and there are a lot of smiles, laughs, errors, mistakes, etc., etc.. The games are treated as a celebration of their HS careers against guys/girls that they have been competing against for the prior 4 years in HS and in most cases, during their youth careers as well.

 

To 'criticize the ones who are at fault' is a bit harsh if you are directing that towards Blake for the interceptions. Who cares? It's suppose to be a fun night and I am sure it was.

1) I won't ever criticize a high school kid because they are just that, a high school kid and it is a learning experience.

Forgive me, it sounded as if you were giving him an alibi. In response to Moken, the kids and the coaches did care. Yes its all about fun but its also a lot to do with winning. These are kids and coaches who put time in to play and win the game. If you don't think the people involved cared, then why did it get a bit chippy on the field with words being shared among players. And I wasn't talking about criticizing Bir, I would not approve of that either. It's an all star game. What all star game at any level, pro or amateur is ever played great?

 

It is just a fun time and one last chance for the boys to strap on the helmet together and play against friends that for some have been playing with or against for 12 years.

 

To me it wouldn't of mattered if the final score was 150-0 or 7-6.

 

I always look at this game as an encore for these players and a great way for the fans to come out one last time to say thanks for 4 great years of high school ball.

 

I hope this game is played every year from here on out.

Its with sadness that I report that the injured ref from this game will be having to amputate his foot. Just found out today. He has had several surgeries to repair the damage to no avail. Please keep him in your prayers.

Wow. That is incredible. You would think with today's medicine that just wouldn't be possible. Prayers out to him.

Just plain awful. Prayers to him and his family.

Wow, I just saw the update about the official. That is just terrible news. I was standing about 10 yards away when that happened. He was in excrucation pain right away, but never expected this. I just hate to see this happen and I always thought he did a great job as a ref as well. Those refs do a great job each time they go out and this is evidence of how dangerous their job really is.

 

He will be in my thoughts and prayers.
