Campbell County 2013/2014

Holbrook and Dre Jackson will be a tough duo to go along with all the other talent CC has.

Jackson will be attending the Holy Cross College elite camp soon, among others.

CC will definetly be a team to watch in the 10th region.

I think CC's success will be determined by the production of the 5 spot. If they get consistent play inside from the bigs they could be tough to handle. If not, it will be tough for them to compete against some of the better teams.

I somewhat disagree here. Reason being is because other than NCC and Brossart, no one is too big inside. To the point that Wilson couldn't at least match the opponents production. I believe Jackson and Holbrook will ultimately determine their success. If those two can coincide with one another and McGoveny can split the ball between those two, along with making defenders guard him, then those 3 will be the toughest matchup for opponents and Wilson and others can just clean it up around the rim.

Where would you all rank CC in the 10th region pre-season?

Where would you all rank CC in the 10th region pre-season?

I think they are the favorite in the 37th and a top 3 team in the region.

I watched them play about 12 times last year and I am not a Campbell Co. resident or alum. Here is the Camels breakdown for the upcoming season: Holbrook will average 18-20 and must improve his defense and control his actions and demeanor on the court. In the Brossart game and Scott game he seemed to lose his cool and not play his game. Jackson is the X-factor in regards to take the next step as a major contributor. He is long and athletic. He is VERY streaky as a shooter. He also lost his cool in the Scott game and the Augusta game. He is very good in transition and has potential to be a lock-down defender. Wilson is solid. He has good hands and his footwork seemed to improve through out the season. However, in big games he disappeared and deferred to others. Considering there is a ton of size in the 10th this season he has to impose his will. McGovney needs to improve his left hand. He is all right on the bounce. He has all the qualities to be a solid PG this year and a big time scorer when Holbrook graduates. The determining factor for the Camels are the role players. In games that the Camels struggled, their bench was non-existent. If they can get some scoring from their bench then they will be a tough out.

As far as a prediction, I believe that"in order to be the man, you have to beat the man" per Mr. Ric Flair. Scott has been to the Regional Tourney and semifinals every year that Coach Carr has been at Scott and Brossart dominated the district last year and return the best overall player in Trentman. So my in depth prediction is for the district tourney is:

#4 Silver Grove defeats #5 Calvary and then #1 seed Scott defeats #4 Silver Grove to advance to the Championship to play #3 Campbell Co. as they upset #2 Brossart. Either way its my opinion and I believe that both the Champion and Runner up will advance to the Semi's of the Region. I also predict that a team from the 37th will be in the Regional Championship again.

I think they are the favorite in the 37th and a top 3 team in the region.

Always the optimist afi. :thumb: As you said, Campbell County lost their MVP from a team that sported a losing record last year. They will have to look for some underclassman to step up and help Holbrook.

Brossart returns a lot of experience and will start 5 Seniors. Scott will return 7-8 Seniors-to-be, along with a couple of Soph's that will help them.

I'd give a slight advantage to Brossart to win the 37th and list the Camels as the 2nd favorite just because of so many unknowns at Scott.

I'm a camel fan but I'd have to say Brossart is the favorite because of what they have returning and they won the district last year. I never count out a Brad Carr coached team, I don't care if he is playing 5 freshman he can motivate kids and is outstanding with X's and O's. One thing to remember about the Camels is their MVP missed the majority of the season. They will be deep at the guard position with Holbrook, Jackson, McGovney, Geiman and Losey. The Franzen boys and Wilson down low have to step up and play physical. Depends on matchups. IMO Camels have the best guards in the district, Brossart has the best post players and Coach Carr always pulls a rabbit out of his hat. Will be fun to watch how it all works out and who steps up.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said here. I would give Brossart a very slight nod for right now. A lot of others have them pegged as the #1 team in the Region for next season & they might be. But I'm concerned with how the 'Stangs will replace Saunders & everything he brought to the table. He was clutch for them all year long. Trentman & Burns will comprise the best front court in the Region, but the back court will be huge to determining the 'Stangs success in 2013-14.

With Campbell County, I'm curious to see how much Jackson has improved. If he can become the kind of player some expect he'll be, the Camels could be the Region's top team. Holbrook returns & an argument could be made that he was one of the 5-7 best players in the Region last year. He was certainly one of the 10th's best scorers. Wilson's progression will be important to, especially against a team with front court power like Brossart.

Also agree on Carr/Scott. My personal opinion is that Carr is the 10th's top coach. We have a lot of good ones, but I have him at #1. His presence will make Scott scary, regardless of their personnel.

However it shakes out, I see an outstanding rivalry in Alexandria this year. Should be exciting.

Agree with both of you. I have BB as the #1 team in the region.....right now. Things and personnel can change. When school starts we will have a better understanding of our region, IMO>

Pretty solid breakdown. I love Holbrooks game and ability to score, but your right about his demeanor at times. I just don't see Wilson having to be a BIG factor as long as he can hold his own. I like the analysis about the bench. I agree. Both Franzens, Losey, and Geiman will need to contribute at times as well.

Really like the Heygi kid. Plays for the Tar Heels and appears to do real well. Saw him in a store a few days ago and he seems to be getting bigger. As a freshman, I imagine he'll see plenty of JV minutes. Do you think he'll get any varsity time?

Also, like Losey. Strong, quick, athletic pg... I imagine he'll get decent mi uses at the 1 for CC.

I've added PTs for each player

3 Blake Losey 10 5’11 140 G 3.2 pts

5 Garrett Geiman 11 6’0 140 G 1.4 pts
