The coaches get paid. Shouldn't they be able to teach their teams how to field a ground ball and make a good throw? 10 errors in a district game is pitiful!! That's why you get T-ball umps, you field like T-ballers.

Just saw the box score for the Creek/Catholic game, ZERO errors. Just saw the box score for the Harrison/Nicholas game, 1 error. 10 errors and you guys want to gripe about umpires, unbelievable. CATCH A GROUND BALL!!!!

No where in this entire thread have I seen one post claiming the umpires cost Cooper the game. You may need to go back over and see what we are talking about here.

Can you please explain to me how errors dictate how an umpire calls a game? You make no sense at all unless you are trying to explain why umps are bad, and even then you have a weak case.

We are talking about umpires that make horrible calls that help prevent a team from coming back in the first place. Oh, and for your information, they did catch ground balls.

So I take it you were not at the game so your 2 cents on this subject is worthless.

That would be defined as a fallacy... Mac W tries to argue bad calls would not happen if errors were not made. Errors are not related in anyway to bad calls. A bad call is a bad call.... an error is an error...

Maybe we should keep track of ump errors...

Maybe we should keep track of ump errors...

Obviously you do.

Obviously you do.

Ok then, Umps made 20 errors in this game, from bad balls and strike calls to calls in the field, you happy?

I think this horse is dead! The bickering on this is getting a bit old.

The umpire in question made a JUDGEMENT call. He called what he saw. Obviously some disagree with what he saw and that is fine. Nobody says that can't be done. The umpire in question is, and it has been stated in this thread, a very competant umpire. He cares about what he does and works hard year round to improve and be the best that he can be. As someone incorrectly stated, he is not out to just collect a check. I would say that most umpires at the high school level are not just out there for the check. If so, they aren't making a very good living for themselves.

Not sure who MAC W is but based on his comments in some other threads, he doesn't appear to be a 9th region guy...hopefully he isn't an umpire at all! If he is an umpire, his comments are reflecting poorly on the rest. Unfortunate!

Can we please talk about the game or move on? The "call" has been discussed and is over.

I was working a big boys game that day.

Yes :isurrender:

Couldn't agree more.

What is upsetting to me is that because of a horrible call, and yes everyone who saw it and has posted on here agree it was a bad call ( the ejection ) is that it affects the young kid next season and forces him to sit out several games. That is what makes such a trigger happy call even worse.

Trigger happy call? He had to make a quick judgement call. He couldn't stand there and think about it forever. That doesn't make him trigger happy. It means his judgement was to eject the kid in the name of player safety.

Why did he have to make a quick judgement on that particular call? What about the other players safety of a potential ball and player coming towards his head. This could have been discussed IMO amongst the crew at least.

What other players safety? The runner? The ball and player weren't going towards his head.

And how long do you recommend he should have waited before he made a call? It was a judgement call charged to the umpire that is assigned first base in that situation. You don't get together and consult on that play. When a MLB player gets tossed because his helmet bounces by the umpire, do they consult to see if he meant to do it or does he just get tossed by the umpire who the helmet just went by? The answer is he gets tossed right away.

He didn't have to make a quick judgement call. Show me anywhere in the rules that says an umpire has to make an ejection call within a tenth of a second.

What player safety are you talking about????

were you there? What player safety?
