May 16, 201313 yr So I am sure this question may have been asked before and I am hoping someone will be able to answer again. A different thread got me to thinking, why are there not more restaurants, businesses, etc. on all of that land and road between Walgreens/Library on out to Ryle HS? Do the people who own the land want to much $ or are they not willing to give it up? Just seems like there would be more businesses along that road for the people in Florence/Union....
May 16, 201313 yr Similar situation as Independence. You still have a lot of rural area out that way. Beyond the Krogers, there's nothing but the schools. Businesses don't want to go out that way as they don't get the high traffic that they can get 5 minutes down the road in Florence. Restaurants don't want to go out that way, because the businesses aren't out there to give them the lunch traffic.
May 16, 201313 yr Florence, Mt. Zion, Richwood ... plenty of options and more convenient for most Union residents than "downtown Union" would be.

May 16, 201313 yr Another area close is over on Mt. Zion. Lots of places there, about 5 minutes away Not really many places there that are different than the stretch in front of Kroger. A couple fast food joints and Buffalo Bob's, which is just frozen food bought at local store cooked to order. Are there more than one? Just 1. Just a typo.
May 16, 201313 yr Perhaps it's a zoning issue? Maybe the city's master plan doesn't call for business development out in that area.
May 16, 201313 yr Mt. Zion is such a mess with traffic too often. Maybe a small pub type place would do all right on the Union end of 42, but I imagine most businesses are looking to be equidistant from Florence and Union. Barleycorn's is right in that "sweet spot."
May 16, 201313 yr Union Town Center Updates It will happen sometime. Like it or not. That looks nice.
May 16, 201313 yr Union Town Center Updates It will happen sometime. Like it or not. That looks nice. I check that site periodically and it really doesn't provide much information. I think it's had the same generic message for over a year. From what I can tell, no timetable has been set.
May 16, 201313 yr here is an update from a couple weeks ago. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130429/NEWS0103/304290074/Efforts-continue-Union-Town-Center

May 16, 201313 yr Author A lot of very valid points, I guess I just see the nice neighborhoods out that way and think of all the money that is there for businesses to take advantage of.
