April 21, 201511 yr I'd hard for me to believe Cal is going to lose out to Mississippi State on a top flight guy when he can offer playing time right away. Well see I guess. That's how I feel. In every interview Newman has ever done all he talks about is preparing himself for the next level and wanting to go somewhere that will help him achieve that. Always sounded good for Kentucky to me.

I think his energy and rebounding inside would be perfect compliment to Skal's finesse game. Both would be very disruptive as shot blockers on the defensive end. Mulder can stroke it, I would be more than happy with him as well.
April 21, 201511 yr Another thing I saw in regards to Newman was a piece on how him and his high school coach were discussing Rodney Hood. They were making the point that he was a good player at MS ST., but really didn't blow up and get to the level he should have until he was at Duke. To me Newman and his father seem like smart guys in terms of the business side of basketball. I know the hometown connection is there to State with his dad playing there and all, but I also think they are smart enough to realize Calipari is going to get him where he needs to be and better prepare him.

April 21, 201511 yr Guessing he needs more academic work to qualify... I was wondering why play college for just one semester? I thought he was going the overseas route? Wouldn't that be better for him than sitting out for 3-4 months if he's going in the lottery next year?
