Ryle head coach

Featured Replies

I never thought Snapp would get this job, even though he still might, but to have not been interviewed after all this time doesn't sound good for him. I really like Rod, but I don't know if Ryle is the best place for him.

Agree not sure if he is the rite guy for the job. He hasn't really won anything. So IMO he is just as unproven as the head man just as the other JV Coaches who have been mentioned for the job. With the talent he had and the schedule he played them kids could of won them games without a coach. Easy to win Bellevue and Heritage Academy tournaments. Scheduling was awful seems like someone was trying to rack up easy wins similar to stat padding. Make it look like you doing something win your really not. Just my opinion.

Is there an organized off season program underway, and who is running it?

So no one has interviewed for this job yet? Color me unsurprised.

In the thread on Mullins leaving someone said these things are very methodical, it's not like college. I can't remember who said that....oh wait.

Do a lil homework before discounting Snapp's effort, hasn't really won anything - wow, he's been a head coach 2 years so what the heck are you looking for. #1 considering what he has had to work with at Newport he has gotten the absolute most out of his players. He can't help the district he plays in so quit holding that against him as that is what it is. Considering Newport did the following: Beat Dixie not once but twice, Beat Holy Cross not once but twice, Beat Cooper at Cooper, Lost to both Holmes and NCC by only 7 points, and finally was a regional semi-finalist so I would think this more than qualifies him for "THIS" job. Many may think he may have had some cupcakes on the schedule who doesn't, but they need to look deeper in the schedule and understand that this guy can coach.

Ryle hasn't been a team that has mattered since the days of Doleman (sp?) so they could alot worse than Snapp. If there is not alot of outside interest in this job this would be a good coach to put into place.

Heard they had an open gym yesterday. I don't know who ran it though.

In a down region Newport did contend yes. Lets look at the schudule a little closer. Beat Dixie? Dixie w/o Hatton wouldn't win 10 games: Holmes was the first game of the year and a rival game! NewCath rival game! lost by 7 in game two, with out the Siebert kid and was blown out by 30plus in regular season, beat Holy Cross on there first game of the year and on a Questionable call in the All A: A win is a win and a lost is a lost. You need to give kids from Newport a little be more Credit than it sounds because by anymeans them boys down there can play some ball. Snap hasn't down anymore than the previous coach. Snap didn't win when he was the freshman coach at Dixie and didn't have a winning season as the two previous season at the helm with the same bogus schedule. The region was down this year and Newport took advantage of this and gave Snapp his first winning season. With the help of a week Schedule. Holy Cross didn't even have a winning record, So back to my original statement IMO" In My Own Opinion" I dont think he is anymore Quilified than the other JV coaches. He can't win where he is at. What makes him "The Man" for the Ryle job.

Your post seems like the axe is with Snapp and not his qualifications for the job. As pointed out, he has been able to produce wins with a tough program and to discredit a win against Dixie because Hatton was there. ??? You take the best player off of any team and it changes their potential. That is just silly. There are coaches in the region that never even make it to regionals and their name comes up everytime a "best coach" discussion comes up. Sanpp was a regional semi-finalist. He has done great for the Newport program and it would be a huge loss for them. If Ryle wants a coach who will get the most out of his players then Snapp is their man. If they want a figure head to just sit on the bench and make excuses why they can't win then maybe he is not. This is not to discredit the other JV coaches who have been mentioned, but I feel like Snapp has more than proved his experience as a program leader over them. They will be great coaches when they earn their opportunity, but if I'm Ryle I am going with Snapp.

Surley not tring to come off that way for I don't even know the man or have i ever spoken to the man. so i could not have a personal agenda. I have seen him coach before. If Snapp is who you think to have the job at Ryle then that is your rightful opinion as it is mine own opinion to think he is not the man for the Job. Since you seem to know him tell use what qualifications does he have that the other aplicants do not, outside of 3 mediocore years a Newport with one winning season.

Despite all of the so-called candidated for this position, I do not think they are even close to making a decision. But I really don't cinsider that a big deal either, they may be focused on state testing or other school issues. If they hire someone in the middle of MAy, it really doesn't devestate the program. Is there really a difference between hiring someone on April 15th or May 15th (Beside thirty days)?

Man this is packed full of excuses. Down year in the region, missing best players, the stars were aligned just right those nites. You talk about how he shouldn't be the coach but I don't see who should be the coach, since it shouldn't be Snapp, that meet your qualifications which I'm not sure what they are other than winning which he appears to be doing. If it should be a up and coming JV coach like Blevins then so be it but that doesn't seem to meet your pro-forma for the requirement to get the job (i.e. winning at the varsity level). I don't care who gets the job, no dog in the fight but I have watched a coach make lemonade out of lemons and advance the program to somewhat relevant which is way more than can be said of Ryle of late. No coach who has been winning at the varsity level on the consistent basis that you seem to be looking for is going to leave it to take "this" job.

What else do you make Lemonade out of? I too do not have a dog in the fight: What I said was that he is not anymore qulified that the JV coaches who has been named see my previous post. Again I was simply giving my opinion but apparently I am not allowed to have one on this topic. But to help you understand what I mean I called up my buddy at the KHSAA: Year 1: 11-18 -10wins against bad teams. Year 2: 15-14 14wins aganist bad teams and a Heritage Acadmey Christmas tournement Championship which included Dayton Bellevue, Heritage and Silver grove.. Way to get it donw. St Pius 7th grade team could of won that tournement. As well as a tournament in Bellevue with the some of the same teams a week before. Them two tournement only acounted for half the teams win that season that very impressive. Wow. Same players who took this years team to the Semi Finals of the Region before for the got expsoed for the bad team they really were But I guess that IYO that lost to cov cath falls on the players and not the coach. Year 3 4: Quliity wins out of 21

How does this Quilify him for the Ryle Job

Players Win Games and Coaches Lose them and he was out coached and embarrassed;

So again IMO he is not the guy for that programs that is my Opinion if you don't like my Opinion you don't have to respond.

Not sure where you are getting that info :ohbrother:

Please be entitiled to your opinion. Everyone has one and that is what this site is for. You have basically discredited all of Snapp's varsity wins at Newport for one reason or another, and since you feel in your opinion that he is no more qualified than any of the JV coaches who have applied. Would you please tell me how many varsity wins they have combined and then we will compare them to Snapp's and see who has more experience running a varsity level program.

So what is the latest?
