Please be entitiled to your opinion. Everyone has one and that is what this site is for. You have basically discredited all of Snapp's varsity wins at Newport for one reason or another, and since you feel in your opinion that he is no more qualified than any of the JV coaches who have applied. Would you please tell me how many varsity wins they have combined and then we will compare them to Snapp's and see who has more experience running a varsity level program.

 

Yes Snapp has more varsity experince. Hence JV coaches. Who's to say if these guys was in his place they wouldnt successed?

Not discrediting Snapp by any means I never said he was a bad coach. Howver I am discreding the schedule he put forth and played if you can look at Newport Schedule the last 3 season and say that is a qulity schedule you are fooling yourself.

If he gets the jobs so be it I wont lose any sleep over it for I don't care either school.

I agree that either jv candidate could have had the same sucess. I like both of them as coaches and hope that they do well at the varsity level when they get there. Well said Walter. These coaches are more than just coaches for these kids. My nephew struggled with some stuff away from basketball this season and his JV coach and assistant coach were tremendous in helping him on and off the court. His exact words to me was Coach Hostetler and Coach Williams care about us as people more than winning. I know he would do anything for those coaches. Coaches get bashed way to much and not given enough credit for all the work they do for the kids that parents and fans do not see. There isn't a coach or referee that deserves to be blasted on a message board by someone that is not with them everyday at practice and games. The parents at Ryle felt the same way for the assistants and JV coach at Ryle. I have faith in the Ryle staff to choose the best person for the kids, which is what high school sports are all about.

Outside looking in Typical inter-city Kid. Who are half as bad as people think they are. Kids in those situations have to feel comfortable with the coach and know the coach doesn't have a hidden agenda!!!! If not there will be all Kinds of problems.

I have seen some very bad coaches at the high school level, boys and girls. When someone talks about being "qualified" I scratch my head at this word. Some guys luck into coaching positions by knowing someone. Coaches need to be able to relate to the kids they are coaching, if you grow up in a better situation you might have a tough time doing this especially if all you hear is "how bad those kids are" and "how tough of a place that is". Go in and be HONEST, let me

Apparently interviews have started according to Richard Skinner. Anyone have any idea who they've interviewed? I've talked to a few candidates and they were not even contacted yet.

I think Blevins should get it. Has helped build a solid Cooper program and knows what it takes to win. Not a knock on the others, but he would be on the top of my list.

Clyde is correct. Demler has handled this well. He has spoken to a few players that have asked about who their coach will be, but given no specific names.

I've heard the process was contacting/selecting 4 candidates, interviewing them over the next week, with a decision within two weeks.
